Religion.
Monarchy.
The notion that corporations are only accountable to their shareholders.

Facial tissues. Imagine all the trees that are cut down to make them.

They are built to be addictive and time consuming. In order to get anywhere in these games one must spend a lot of time on there.

People have lost jobs, friends and even their children due to an mmorpg addiction.

I wouldn't ban them, but like cigarettes and gambling (other addictive things) I think the world would be better if they didn't exist as mmorpg addiction has adverse psychological, social, and health effects.

I don't think it's a problem inherent to MMORPGs though, instead the problem is that if a game is more profitable when people spend huge amounts of time playing it, that will incentivize implementing features and making design choices that encourage addictive tendencies.

Recently I've heard the same sort of complaints towards games like World of Warships and those sorts of games, primarily about the large time investments needed, or with how the pay side can encourage too much spending on the game.

Gaming in general can be a problem, so it doesn't (to me) make much sense to focus on any single genre. I'm not sure how to discourage the grind-to-win and pay-to-win models though. They shouldn't have been invented.

I was just going to say that. Covid is back now. What a stubborn virus. Is that damn virus going to come back every 4 years, now?
