I don't do Rand.

Do you remember learning multiplication? I can tell you where I was for each internalisation.

No, but I remember being in the greengrocer's aged about 6, and the shopkeeper asking me whether I'd 'learnt my tables'. LOL, I didn't know what he was on about.

Do you use the verb 'multiply' to refer to mathematical multiplication or 'timesing it'. The latter phrase gets on my nerves, FWIW.

Multiply

What does timesing it refer to?

A lot of people, actually most people, in the UK would say "You times it by three" instead of "You multiply it by three".

I occasionally say "Three times four" but never "timesing" or "times it by" -- ouch, that hurts.

Do you have a television in your bedroom, or have you ever?

Yes, for over 10 years, but I've only ever watched it about half a dozen times. I'm tending to use the laptop for the rare occasions I now watch any TV shows, mainly news and documentaries.

Have you ever run in a competitive race (eg 100 metres, Marathon, etc)?

I've run three marathons, and some other long-distance races, too.

I used to participate in track meets when I was a kid.

Same question.

I have, believe it or not!

I was quite a fast runner when I was young and I was put on the school's Track and Field team. I remember running the 100m, possibly the 200, and a relay.

I quit because one of the older girls laughed at me and said I ran with a funny posture. I was mortified.

I was passable at sprinting and ran the 100 metres (or 100 yards) a few times on school sports days, but never actually won an event. I was always utterly hopeless over longer distances.

Have you ever run completely out of money in your adult life (ie nothing in your wallet/purse or in any bank account)?

CONstantly-

that is the case just now and is usually the case as the child support cannot cover both kids’ diapers wipes formulas. Bills (esp heating ) and essential groceries fr the month- my dad tides me over constantly- to his credit

WOW you had the talent fr running.
My running is and always has been pathetic and slow as I have to tell my brain ‘thia foot now this’ and keep forgetting n therefore trip. I used to get so many cuts on both knees. Even walking in a straight line eluded me until my twenties-

for which my mom wd yell at me

As a student, I once found myself with less than 50 pence in cash and nothing in the bank. I needed to find something for my next meal, and realized I could buy a tin of soup or a can-opener to access its contents, but not both. That was a bit of a shocker, albeit with a funny side - the next day I got a £60 'hardship loan' from my college, which got me through the next few weeks. In those days a term's rent was around £100. The incident taught me to be very wary of debt and I've tended to be an almost obsessive saver ever since.

NB students in the UK now often graduate with £40,000+ of debt.... 8O

Do you think governments run their economies too much for the benefit of debtors?

Nah....never was a "talented" runner. What I had was patience LOL.

I did run a couple of fairly decent marathons. Under 4 hours.

In my heart of hearts, I know I've gotten too much into debt----and I would have benefited had there not been the temptation to go into debt.

Do you enjoy being a mother/father?
