I have had people leave my life because they decided they hated me for not "snapping out" of being depressed.

I can't just drop wanting a girlfriend. The last 12 years would be all for nothing if I did. It would mean those who told me I would never have a girlfriend were right.

I used to think that if I found someone to love me, all my problems would miraculously disappear. But then I realized that problems come from beliefs and perceptions that are skewed, and that Shakespeare said it best in Hamlet: 'There is nothing good nor bad, but thinking makes it so.'

I know it wouldn't fix everything but I still want a girlfriend for special moments. Are you telling me not to want a girlfriend?
