I can't remember the number - I never can - but have always been fond of the Prokofiev concerto which Abbado and Argerich famously recorded in the sixties. I don't know if you've ever read Ayn Rand, but that slightly contrapuntal piano theme from the third movement is always how I imagined the Song of Broken Glass would sound.

I don't know anything about Messaien. As far as modern music goes, I don't listen to anything later than the fifties or so. I don't think I own a recording of anything later than Shostakovich's fifteenth, which would have been early seventies.

Do you wear cufflinks?

No, but I like vest and Braces aka suspenders.

What is your signature accessory?

My new one is a pork pie hat.

My signature accessory is probably a little cat pin.

Same q.

Most people have no idea how to wear waistcoats (vests) or braces (suspenders) anymore. I see men in restaurants on Saturday evenings who are wearing waistcoats with jeans and t-shirts - cringeworthy. All that horrible, fashionable facial hair also ruins the smart look. I can't stand clip-on braces either. God, how I bemoan the lack of standards of my generation.

These are the braces I'm wearing today:

Do you prefer the city or the countryside?

Probably the countryside---all things considered.

Same question.

Countryside, provided I have transport.

What's your favourite Star Trek race? (Is that racist?)

I have a ... thing ... for braces. 8)

I actually asked to keep my grandfather's braces as a keepsake after he passed.

You're right. Most men don't wear them at all or certainly not correctly.

Countryside

I've not seen Star Trek.

Do you like stoneware dishes?

I like them. But I like "unbreakable China" better.....

Do you like the "service for eight" which have flowers on them? (I forgot the brand name---but they're British).

I actually don't understand why some people consider belts to be more comfortable - I feel suffocated by them, as well as the fact that they just LOOK common.

I like to look at stoneware dishes, but I only really use good porcelain and china.

What kind of oil do you fry with?

Any oil that is the easiest to find and open.....

Same question.

https://www.chinasearch.co.uk/aynsley/blue-mist/

This is my china setting. It's not ultra high-end but it does have little flowers and mist.

I have a service for ten. I use the tea service but seldom the dishes. I use stoneware more often.

I usually fry with cold-pressed coconut oil.

same q

It tends to be olive oil, but only because it's the easiest one to source organically.

I couldn't find my china online, given that it's several decades old (not mine, originally), but I only have enough for two, which is fine, given that the only people who ever visit my house are my parents, grandparents and six year old brother - and then only once or twice a year.

Do you take any nutritional supplements/ herbal remedies?

I usually struggle to find "serenity."

There's never been a time in my life, even when I was a young child, when I felt "serene". By all accounts, I've always had the anxiety and stress levels of a neurotic adult.

I hate idleness - though, with iron willpower, I don't really struggle with it a great deal. On that note, I think I'd better finish my physics assignment.

Do you drive a manual or automatic?
