I don't believe in free will in any absolute, metaphysical sense - the idea seems pretty absurd to me - but, as a number of philosophers have pointed out, it's impossible to reject free will consistently. This makes free will one of the most linguistically difficult problems in philosophy; there are unimpeachable reasons why we must reject free will, and yet we have to do so in a language which is structured in a way that presupposes the reality of free will.

Have you ever used any of the TI family of calculators/CASes?

I had no difficulty learning to type; at around nine, I could do it better than most adults.

What's the most you've ever paid for a watch?

Nothing. I don't wear watches.

If someone told you that failure doesn't exist, and that no one is obligated to do anything they don't want to do, what would your response/reaction be?

No schaums or music

Love sushi, but sugar and $$. Do not eat it anymore

For there to be success, there has to be failure. Bell curve. Dualism

If failure does not exist, success does not either

"Free" of what? More free now than in college, in some ways

I'm extremely old fashioned in more or less all of my tastes, opinions and interests. I hate novelty - especially for novelty for its own sake.

Have you read Descartes?

meh -- I don't think much of him at all. I don't like pop art. Some of his early art and theatre work were good.

Do you store drinking glasses with the open side up or down?
