My partner still has a box of cassettes, and a collection of records.
I mainly listen to music online now.

The Costco concept started in the 1970s---when there was a store called "JGE," where only people who were members of a certain labor union could shop.

I agree. It would be nice if we could just shop in bulk without having to pay a yearly "fee."

I usually watch American Bandstand on YouTube, where I listen to the songs, and watch the people dance.

Can you imagine that, in the 1960s, you can see your favorite bands for free in amusement parks?

I know who Borges is, but I don't think I've read him. Does that count? :chin:

Yes, I can imagine that very nicely.

Did you ever have to give a speech for school?

I once gave a speech for "Honor's Day" while I was going to college. It was about the difference between "prescriptivism" and "descriptivism" in linguistics. I failed pretty miserably.

Have you ever read your poetry in a poetry reading?

Yes I have read my own poetry at reading events. I was even approached by a famous Australian author who wanted me to contact his publisher...but I was so drunk I didn't get the gist of what he was saying and thought he was just another dirty old man. Haha. Then my friends were all shouting at me that WAS ....(whatever his name was).

I did. A few times.

I once stirred up a little controversy when I was 20 years old. I went to a poetry reading with this guy I worked with who was supposed to be some kind of "poet." He was a man of about 65 years of age. I read a poem called "Duchess Lady"---about my older Lesbian lover. The "Duchess" was the bar she used to go to in order to try to meet other women.

So I read the poem---and it had a slight profanity. The guy went through the roof!

The next day, while we were at work, I called him "Willie" (his name was William, and he preferred to be called Bill). He said "Don't call me Willie!" I said, "Okay, Willie." He then threw a hot cup of coffee on me.

Weird guy.

Have you ever seen a famous poet read his/her stuff?

No. Well, kinda. I dont like most poetry. If its not terribly confusing and has a PROPER rhyming pattern, than I thoroughly enjoy it. But for some reason it seriously bugs me when it doesnt rhyme.

Are you more self conscious about your physical appearance or your behavior and habits?

I go into a long explanation, their eyes glaze over and they make an excuse and make a break for the door. In other words my normal communication failure. Seriously though, I don’t interact that much.

I'm with feeli0.

"How do you deal with people?" is a tough enough question on its own, without adding their lack of understanding about autism.

How long does it take you to reboot your energy after an exhausting social situation?

I'm an odd kind of person. I actually feel glad for those opportunities to socialize, having never really had them before. I used to feel a lot worse in those years when I did nothing of a social nature.
