Since getting up eight hours ago, at least six hours looking into a screen. It's getting worse, and a bit worrying on health grounds, but hugely addictive. My current obsession is computers and laptops, so I can't stay away from them....I'm glad I have an appointment elsewhere in a few hours, as it'll force me to leave the house.

How much cake and chocolate do you consume in a week?

Generally none. I don't like chocolate and I rarely have cake.

I'll have cake next week, but it will likely be a spice cake.

Have you ever had your heart broken?

Possibly, but maybe a large component of it was self-pity. I find it difficult and unproductive to analyze such things these days... :nerdy:

Can you remember your first day at school?

Absolutely. My teacher spanked me for playing with a toy train because it was "A boys' toy". She said I had to play House with the girls, but I didn't know how. It was horrible.

Yes, I was four years and two months old. I hadn't experienced anything like it before, and cried for most of the 7 hours or so. I remember sitting on my own near the edge of the room, don't actually remember any class activity or teaching going on.

Were there any teachers you simply couldn't get on with at school?

Yes, that first teacher who spanked me.

After that I learned to mask and be a people pleaser, so there were no issues.

I'm just unlearning that nonsense now.

Yes, there were a handful over the years whom I couldn't take seriously, and I tended to mess around or not try in their classes. I regret it a bit now, but maybe it was a necessary stress-reliever to compensate for the amount of concentration I put into most of my school studies.

I have a portion of chargrilled pollock cooking in the oven at the moment. Does that appeal to you?

It sounds delicious, to be honest. I've been ill all day and haven't eaten anything that I recall.

I'm getting a new roof on my house today if it doesn't rain (postponed from Thursday by rain), and it will be a long and stressful day for various reasons. Pollock would hit the spot.

Have you ever paid for a new roof?

No, but roof repairs would be one thing I'd absolutely dread. Not just the expense, but the idea of water getting into my living area, the stress of dealing with tradespeople and the difficulties of finding reliable, competent ones. The ceiling right above where I'm sitting looks slightly discoloured, possibly from damp, but I'm trying to ignore it unless or until I have to deal with it...

How many cups of coffee, if any, do you drink in a day?

You're right. It was very stressful to find the tradesmen who will be doing my roof. I was very overwhelmed and under-helped while looking for people to trust. I'm nervous but it's about the last thing on my mind right now.

I only have one coffee per day, but usually a pot or two of tea.

Do you have a pen pal?

Did you read Charlotte's Web?

Yes! It has the best opening of any children's book: "Where is Papa going with that axe?"

Yes, and I can tell you where I sat on the floor of my parents' house to read it! I didn't move and read it in one sitting.

Have you read the Narnia books?

Did you read Lewis's Sci-Fi series?

No, I never read any sci-fi except for the compulsories from school.

Did you read The Velveteen Rabbit?
