I prefer Shelley. Byron was just a guy who deserved to get his ass kicked.

(Yes, I know Shelley wasn't all that great either in terms of morality).

Do you believe Alexander Pope was amazing? He was around 4 foot 7, was hunchbacked, and had some major illnesses---yet produced some of the greatest English literature.

Not as amazing as Kant, who was five feet tall, infirm and contributed more to philosophy than perhaps Plato himself (belying Whitehead's oft-quoted summary of western philosophy: "footnotes to Plato"). I loved Rape of the Lock, though. He also had a rather handsome face - though shame about the body.

Who's your favourite modern (defined as Descartes to the present day) philosopher?

I was quite intrigued by The Rape of the Lock, and by his life story.

I've seen Forrest Gump but I don't remember it. I guess Sleepless in Seattle.

Do you find it hard to believe the sky goes on forever?

Bertrand Russell. I also admire the contemporary philosopher Sir Roger Scruton.

Do you prefer shoes with laces or slip-ons?

One of the greatest English writers of all time. He lived in the 18th century.

Samuel Johnson also was a short man with various physical maladies----but he was at the vanguard of the "dictionary movement of the 18th century.

Have you ever studied the "English Landscape Garden?"

I like the sense of "infinity."

I thought Samuel Johnson was six foot plus. It's one of the few things I can remember from reading Boswell's Life in 2014. I visited his childhood home in Lichfield, Staffordshire around the same time.

You're right, he was a "tall and robust man"---but, later in life, he did suffer from various maladies.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Boswell. It provided me with the sense of the value of money in those days. He lived on 25 Pounds per quarter.

What do you like better: Neoclassical, or Baroque?

You don't have to force yourself to do what the rest of the crowd is doing to validate yourself.

Clothing--silky or more scratchy?
