Any of the locations from my childhood (my first house and the woodlot behind it, the marina where we had our boats, my grandfather's property with horses and a boat) ... or just at home with a book.

same q

I find I'm much more sociable with certain types of people than others, to such an extent that if certain people saw me in the company of certain others they'd be shocked by my reticence/sociability.

Do you drink cognac?

I've tried it, but very seldom.

Have you ridden a horse?

I've treated myself to some, after a more than usually satisfying week.

   YES! Though not for some time now. :(

What's your favourite of the four tennis Grand Slams?

You will need to tell me what they are.

Do you enjoy Anglo-Saxon poetry?

Istominfan just shuddered. They are, of course, Wimbledon, the Australian Open, the French Open (Roland-Garros) and the US Open.

I'm not terribly familiar with Anglo-Saxon poetry.

Have you ever had your portrait painted professionally?

An art student of my acquaintance has just offered me a small sum of money to paint my portrait for her portfolio. I can now tell people I'm a model :D

No. England, Wales, NI, and even the Republic of Ireland, but I never made it to Scotland. Perhaps it will be its own trip someday.

Have you read Spenser?

I was going to tell you that no man is an island, but I think that was Donne, so no.

What's your favourite Shostakovich symphony?

I've liked all of the Shostakovich I've heard, but I can't recall any numbers.

Who is your favorite composer of Opera or Art Song?

I've never really liked opera, but I'd go with Wagner. A bit heavy for someone who isn't an opera fan, but he's the only operatist I'm familiar with, albeit mainly on an intellectual rather than artistic level). I have seen the whole Ring cycle through, and would have enjoyed it if it had been half the length in time.

Do you prefer German or Italian opera?
