Sprig of Lilac
Hyam Plutzik, 1911 - 1962

Their heads grown weary under the weight of Time—
These few hours on the hither side of silence—
The lilac sprigs bend on the bough to perish.

Though each for its own sake is beautiful,
In each is the greater, the remembered beauty.
Each is exemplar of its ancestors.

Within the flower of the present, uneasy in the wind,
Are the forms of those of the years behind the door.
Their faint aroma touches the edge of the mind.

And the living and the past give to one another.
There is no door between them. They pass freely
Out of themselves; becoming one another.

I see the lilac sprigs bending and withering.
Each year like Adonis they pass through the dumb-show of death,
Waxing and waning on the tree in the brain of a man.

Starlings already carrying nest material.

Fireflies!

Wasps. Bees. Other buzzy things.

Ticks,mosquitoes and morels.I found two big ones yesterday.Morels that is, I found way more ticks than that after a stroll in the woods.

Warmer weather means all the creepy people are reappearing at the local park.

Spring rains have caused part of my road to slide off, a huge pit big enough to swallow a school bus.No mail,no trash pick up and worse ,no Fedex or UPS.
The once buried phone line is just dangling there,thank goodness or there would be no WiFi.

There's lots of rabbits around my house so I'm looking forward to seeing baby bunnies scampering around soon. And seeing ducklings and goslings around the lake soon.

New reeds and snake grass sprouting.

It awoke the creepers here also.
A 50ish year old man tried to grope a teenaged girl sunbathing at the local swimming hole,he tried to Trump her.You know,grabbing her by the “kitty”.Then another chased two young girls with a stick and tried to grab one.She gave him a good kick and got away.He was described as a tweaker, 20ish, bushy blonde hair , baseball cap,skinny,blue shirt with holes in it, pants with holes and barefoot.Still at large.
And the tourists are out,sadly falling off the bluffs.

So you're opposed to natural selection, are you?

A thick layer of pollen on everything.

The Chimney Swifts are back — that's one of the best signs of spring. They'll be background sounds now every day until the end of September.

Rhinitus from all the pollen from the beech/birch trees. Spring was late to get going this year, so they've all gone randy at once! Should be over soon, though; and it looks like it's going to be a good year for the bluebells - my favourite!
