What exactly is that picture referring to about Californians though? Is it because people think it's really sunny here or people bringing umbrellas to beaches or...?

Ahhh... Well I'm from Northern California and we get more rain than they do down there in the South. Though this year... we haven't had much rain at all! I can only think of about a week's worth of significant rain this year...
Oh, and are you from California too, kevinjh? I assumed so because of what you said after Makayla posted that picture.

Yes, and down here, we know little of what really constitutes winter or leaves changing colors down here on account of rarely experiencing either.

Unless you live near the Sierra Mountains or Lake Tahoe (half of it is in California and half of it is in Nevada).
I've been outside on Christmas in short shorts before.
But yeah... No snow. I love snow.
