People giving out home-made treats on Halloween. When I was a kid my mom would make candied apples and some of my neighbors gave us bags of fudge. I read that years before that they'd also give out home-made cookies and cake. But now because of all the horror stories about sickos putting razor blades in apples or poisoning Halloween candy people usually just give out store-bought stuff now.

Actually, there have been very few cases of actual trick-or-treat candy poisoning, and most of the victims were actually poisoned by their own parents. :(
And other kids have sometimes gotten sick after eating the candy, but it's a well-known fact that eating too much of it can do that, especially when it's combined with excitement. The whole "stranger danger" thing back in the 80's was ridiculous.
