Making candy? How does one do that? I've never heard of making candy in one's home and kitchen before. :o

I don't exactly know how to make candy, but my mother and sister make things like almond roca, chocolate turtles, and magic cookie bars.

I know that you can melt chocolate by melting chocolate chips on the stove using one pot full of boiling water and another on top with the chocolate. I also know that they use candy thermometers to constantly check the temperatures.

I'm actually better at making cookies and homemade Chex Mix.

Just baked an egg custard and the filling and the crust underneath is cooked perfectly, but the crust edges are a too overdone and brown. It's not until AFTER I baked it that my mum decides to give me the "tip" of putting foil on the outer crust when baking the tart.
Thanks mum, that advice is going to make a world of difference NOW.

I think they're well on their way, we've got 4 all within a 5 minute walking distance. Mind you I'm more in favour of the pound bakery, you can get 2 for 1 there.

You can get your cakes, your pies, your pasties. Sweat or savoury you just can't go wrong.
