The number 60 means you are not allowed to drink it before you turn sixty years old. So technically I'm not allowed to drink it.

^I've never heard of moonshine. What's in it?

What I'm drinking (well soon anyway, the schweppes needs to cool first) is vodka 60% alcohol, and bitter lemon.

Moonshine is illegally produced liquor. It is usually made in stills which are hidden in the forest. Most of the time, it's made in the Southern part of the United States. It is almost always made at night (the still is lit up by moonshine).

It is usually clear, and tastes sort of like rubbing alcohol. It's almost 200 proof, usually.

Oh, it's what we call home burned liquor. It's sort of like home made vodka. My father did that a few times when we where children. Once the alcohol percent apparently was over 90% :P

Like maybe 2-5 years ago, there was this show on TV called "Moonshiners." You would have liked it. It was funny.

You can probably get some episodes on YouTube.

Theakston's Black Sheep Ale

I thought the whole 'moonshine' phenomenon in the USA had disappeared after Prohibition ended in around 1933. Obviously not....

Nope...it's still going strong!

When I went to camp in the 1960s, we used to sing "moonshine songs."

We were told adventure and scary stories about moonshiners.

It's probably not as prevalent as it was in the 1930s......but it's definitely still an entity.
