I’ve had phases for particular bands, but not especially.

Do you like old-school 80s goth?

I was a teenager in the 80s so yes.

Did you ever know your great grandparents?

Not really: one great grandfather’s life overlapped with mine, but he was paralysed by a stroke when I was very little and lived hundreds of miles away.
(I suspect he wasn’t liked by his descendants as well, but I’ve never asked)

Did you?

I knew my mother's mother's mother, Priscilla. She died when I was eight.

What's the most impressive thing you have physically built / constructed / made?

I once made a storybook with my own drawings inside it. Took me a long time to make, mostly because of the drawings, each one took about three days to make. And then I had to write the story itself.

What is your fondest memory?

A 1/100th scale model of a hospital at uni: it was the size of a double bed, and I worked out the design as I built the model.

The sound of my high school geography teachers voice.

What is the sketch/drawing you’re most satisfied with of?

That sounds really impressive ^^ :)

My favourite sketch is of an anime character called Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z which I drew last week :)

Same question?

That sounds extremely impressive!

fondest memor(ies):

- Christmas Eve at my Uncle Frank's house -- likely around 1975
- Christmas Eve at home hearing The Night Before Christmas on radio (yearly)
- Christmas Day when I got the giant Holly Hobby playhouse -- likely 1976?
- Boating as a little girl when I was allowed to feed ducks and play on the slide at a park

My favourite painting is an island. It's oil paint.

A series of chalk studies of glass bottles I did when I was seventeen. They look properly translucent and shiny. :)

So big I couldn’t keep it! Went in a skip unfortunately (took about to films worth of photos though)

Oil paint is the best paint.

Have you ever had any of your work put on public display?

Yes in primary I was considered a very good artist and my work was on display in a public library as well as some city council offices. One went to a shopping mall exhibit. Later in Uni, I had academic work published.

There was always something of mine on display in the high-school art room, my A level exam piece was on display in the foyer to represent the school for a year after I graduated.
Also, at university, the tutors used my work area as the showcase to attract prospective students & their parents.
Edit: I forgot, I had two of my poems published in anthologies.

Did you find the idea of other people looking at your work a bit weird and invasive?

Nope.....I wish people felt like "looking at my work." I would feel pride that people would go as far as to "look at my work."

Same question.

Yes I did and still do. It's hard, especially if they don't say anything.

It leaves you thinking did I do something wrong? Do they like it? I guess the hardest part is if you're not good at reading expressions so you can't tell if they liked it or not.

Who is your biggest inspiration?

I'm comfortable sharing my professional work, but with personal work I'm more self-conscious.

My biggest inspiration is my late father, and his parents.

Do you know what your first word was? Mine was "turtle".

My biggest inspiration is my father also.

My first word was 'mummy'.

What would you like to be remembered for in life?
