what's the point of doing ANYTHING when you're not the best at it?

it's been a LONG time since i enjoyed doing anything at all.

Perfection is an unrealistic goal. Being happy with the best you can achieve, is a realistic goal. Is creating art a passion of yours Kip?

but i'm not happy with anything i make because i inevitably conpare it to other art and mine looks poop in comparison.

everyone always says not to compare but that's stupid, society forces you to do it, you can't avoid it, and it's not like there's enough of everything to go around. life is always a zero sum game.

it's the only thing i have any sort of motivation to do, but i would hardly call it a passion anymore since i have been exposed to my peers' art and it is all far superior to my garbage trash.

seriously, why would i keep going in light of this?

what do i have to offer?

nothing, obviously.

like i said, if i'm not the best, there's no point.

other people's success has always pissed me off.

Who raised you to be a winner ? I thought you had been beat down at every opportunity by your parents and this is why you feel the way you do. Correct me if I'm wrong.

How many great artists saw true success in their lifetime? I bet they were passionate about their art nonetheless. Stop comparing yourself to others and start enjoying the art.

i can't stop comparing myself to others.

i don't want to wait until i'm dead for my work to mean anything either. musicians don't face that problem. pretty much everyone else in other creative fields don't have that problem.

BS. It's unrealistic to expect yourself to be the best at something , that is pure fantasy unless of course you invent something that's never been done , then you'll will be the best at it

Other's people's success has never pissed me off except when I was younger and it was always about girls then and my ability to snare a girlfriend. Maybe try and flip the situation on it's head and be happy for other's success's. The compare game will only lead to despair as when you are depressed your confirmation bias will always pick you as the loser..

I don't know, I do stuff I think is crap and other people seem to love it, so maybe the creator of the piece is not the best judge.
I've even pointed out mistakes and they're like, "I can't even see it."
You are your own worst critic.

Why? Your art should be unique. Like your fingerprint. How else would you separate yourself from everyone else?

Speaking of which, I just bought some more stuff to paint.
I'm going to be painting until next century.
