That's a complicated issue for me, I've reflected on it before. I'm very tolerant and have a live and let live attitude towards a lot of things, even stuff that many seem to find offensive or annoying, but I'm intolerant of a lot of other things that people like to gloss over and minimise: manipulation, betrayal, gas-lighting and various abusive behaviours.

So strangely it seems I'm both more and less forgiving than the norm

^Ah i'm sad to say i haven't read it. Tolkien villains are the only ones i have no sympathy whatsoever. Feanor is the closest one i consider a to a likable villain so i mentioned him. I love him.
