Are you a forgiving person?

That's a complicated issue for me, I've reflected on it before. I'm very tolerant and have a live and let live attitude towards a lot of things, even stuff that many seem to find offensive or annoying, but I'm intolerant of a lot of other things that people like to gloss over and minimise: manipulation, betrayal, gas-lighting and various abusive behaviours.

So strangely it seems I'm both more and less forgiving than the norm :?

Hmmm....
Sauron = EVIL :P
Saruman = Despair :?
Wormtongue = Lust :roll:
Denethor = Grief/Guilt :heart:
Gollum = Obsession :oops:
(Ignoring the Nazgul because they’re a posse)

Denethor or Gollum? ...
Denethor because it’s how the interplay of his flaws and virtues play out that drives him to destructive villainy.

can you tell I haven’t read it for years?

Feanor? Hadn’t thought of him as a villain...

Ever read Gormenghast?
If so what’s your take on Steerpike?

^Ah i'm sad to say i haven't read it. Tolkien villains are the only ones i have no sympathy whatsoever. Feanor is the closest one i consider a to a likable villain so i mentioned him. I love him.

Who's your favorite fictional character of all time?

Too many choices my head will explode.

Sorry can't make up my mind, but Sam Vimes is a great one (btw did you know Conan Doyle hated Sherlock with a vengeance?)

What do you like to read when you have a cold or just feel lazy and want to spend the day (or as much of it as you can) reading in bed?

Terry Pratchett is always great for slow, under the weather days. I'll usually pick something that makes me laugh.

Wine, beer or spirits?
