I'm at my parents place right now. We're having Easter dinner tonight. In their eyes, I'm still female though I came out to my mum on Facebook three years ago in January. I brought a Teeny Beanie Baby with a German flag in its chest and her pea green friend who's also the same make of toy. I've been leaving the cloth Schultz at home since the beginning of January. I've also brought my favourite stuffed open mouth Om Nom that looks the most like a pea. The Commonwealth Toys one. Commonwealth makes very realistic looking toys.

I'm dreading company time and dinner. My brother in law calls me honey and deer. My sister seems to be more interested in everyone else. I feel like the German guard who walks into a prison camp from time to time. It's three years later and I still feel like this.

I know a transgendered man whose family loves him, but is also in denial about his gender. They call him "she", or else they avoid pronouns by saying "our oldest child" and "our kid". It's really sad to witness. :(

I hope your meal went well, and that you know we love you here.

((Hugs))

Have you seen the film The One That Got Away? it's a 1957 film starring Hardy Kruger, he plays a German pilot

during WW2 and is captured and put in a prison of war camp in the UK. He makes lots of attempts to escape and

causes so much havoc that they send him to Canada where he attempts to escape again. It's an enjoyable film

and unless you don't like old black and white films I think you might enjoy it. I always think of it when you talk

about visiting your family. I picture you like him surrounded, and planning your escape :D .

I found this rambling monologue very inspiring.

My mum dropped me off at my place this morning on the way to her pharmacy. I went to church this morning. It's the very first time I went to church on an Easter Sunday. I quite enjoyed it. It was done up more special than on a typical Sunday. I was really smiling for the first time in a while, I was so pleased.

I decided to go for a little walk downtown and buy some Easter chocolate at the supermarket. I couldn't believe how many businesses and stores were actually open. I guess that's a sign that times are even tougher in Canada than I thought because businesses and stores are trying to take in as much money as they can to survive.

I also saw more than a handful of homeless people with their carts and bottles.

I watched The Monkees and now my chicken legs and Stove Top dressing are roasting in the oven. What a strange Easter. I did get to visit my parents and have Easter dinner with my family yesterday, so I'm still satisfied. I felt so blessed that my parents had me over that I watched TV with everybody instead of sneaking into the guest bedroom like I usually do.

I've gone back to an avatar that goes nicely with my Sweet Pea hugs because Om Nom is the cutest Sweet Pea.

This is one of the first and most powerful things you can do to another person or group of people whom you are determined to hate. Stop regarding them as human beings, in the small patterns of things such as how you refer to them. This spreads to how you think about them, and through your speech patterns to other people.

Dictators and tyrants have known and used this technique for thousands of years. The enemy deserves no mercy, deserves to be eradicated, because they are not really people. Say it enough times, over a long enough period, and people will start to believe you. Sadly, that long enough period is not very long. And once people start believing that the enemy isn't human, isn't worthy of respect, doesn't deserve the same rights and freedoms that you enjoy, doesn't deserve to live...

You end up making people comfortable with the idea of denying rights, liberties, and eventually life itself to whatever group you started to refer to in dehumanising terms.

Beware people who talk like some other group of people deserves any less dignity than anyone else.

Actually no, there's actually little use in deluding the masses when said masses will spend billions deluding each other anyway. All that's needed it a cognitive nudge one way or the other for the entire trend to skew right or left. In this case right could afford more sock puppeteers so they had it in the bag. That's where we got to the disaster Kura just described, it's larger than any single political figure when it's possible to buy elections using cheap technology. I think that's where the issue of prejudice in modern politics is; data science was already marginalizing any minority (including us) & the thoughtless use of social media in democracy only accelerates the prejudice that comes along with it.
