That’s awful, hope you get your chairs back. Was anything else of value damaged?

I’m fine in myself this evening, sorry to hear it isn’t the same all round. :(

(I think I’ve missed the music question... but I had Koshkins 24 preludes & fugues for guitar on just now if that answers it)

Don’t know about disciplined, I just get on with what my diary tells me I’m meant to be getting on with: not sure if that counts though... some days it tells me very little!

I suspect I’m the most annoying person in my family.
(I know I have been in the past anyway)

I don’t have a bicycle, live in town so I walk or catch a bus.

Paid worldwide holiday? Where do I sign up for this?

Do you do hats?

Yes there are some really comfy ones too. They block out ppl a bit (feels like a bit of a shield) sometimes depending on the rim and the floppiness.

My sons don't which I've been told is because of the ASD sensory issue... But then why have I always not minded them... I don't know. Though things like seams and jeans aggravate me.

If you did not know or have it beaten into you that it was considered odd and looked down on, what type of things would you do in public for ASD sensory relief or compulsion?

I would shut the lights off in every shop, and tell them to turn the stupid music down.

I'd lick and chew things (pens), sit on the floor, and make lion sounds.

I sat on the floor in my meeting today.

Thats the thing I like about Jeddah they never played music in shops unless it was a music shop
Its actually not allowed.. Makes things more peaceful..
I would agree with that.

Also playing with my hair

Beads.. Looking thru beads (the beads wd be on a thin leather cord) when waiting (eg waiting in line, at doctor's, or waiting for medicine to be ready)..

Or something like those Mahjong tiles someone mentioned earlier..
Clacking them in a little sack (i used to do this in public all the time as it helps take away the streaa somehow). Like a rattle but more grown-up (ha!)

Repeating the same words again n again.. Or verse from a song.

Jumping jacks sideways instead of walking

What a nightmare, Bella, I'm so scared of this kind of situations, no amount of money can make up for objects of sentimental value...

Good wishes and thoughts for you and if you need anything, you know I'm always here, anytime you need an ear or shoulder

I like and wear hats, I have what the French call a "hat head" - all hats and glasses look good on me.

Sit on the floor, take my shoes and socks off, sniff at things that bring me comfort.

Yes to hair twirling, but I do that regardless.

Random pirouettes.

Clapping my hands. (I like to do a quick double clap for a stim sound).

Saying "Yay!" enthusiastically when I'm happy.

Shutting people's curtains.

Oh yes, SHOES OFF! Socks off!

Playing Tickle!

Walking around with my nose in a container of PlayDoh.

More!

Never taken to hats: I like the look, but can’t stand the feeling on my forehead.

I wouldn’t do public!
Don’t like being out and about. It’s icky and weird and anxiety provoking.

But man must eat, and replace his guitar strings every so often.

I suppose I would love to be free to dance about with excitement at my own thoughts when and wherever they occurred.

bedtime now, night all :D

Did you ever collect sea-shells?

Sit with my knees pulled up to my chest.

Find a small place to hide in, such as under a chair.

Hum short tunes repetitively.

Bolt out of places that are too noisy/crowded.

Pick up things like bags of rice or lentils at the grocery store and squeeze them.

And probably a bunch of other things I can't think of right now.

If you could have any animal you wanted as a pet, what would you choose?

In speech therapy I had to say "She sells sea shells down by the seashore" about 100 times in a row.

I don't really collect shells but sometimes I'll bring souvenir rocks from random places.

More public stims:

making fishy sounds with my mouth

randomly doing the "stuck" pose from gymnastics, and exclaiming "Ta Da!"

Image

playing the same song on repeat with a boom box

yes dnd!! ! I'd hide under furniture too!

I'd have a pet duck.

Oops, missed one. I didn't get super into it or anything, but I used to have a small bucket full of shells I'd collected. I'm not sure what happened to it.

Anybody else finds holding a pillow (over the face) comforting?

I love a pillow on my face as you describe. I also put both hands over my face A LOT. (Picture the "good grief" pose).

It's fun to peek through my fingers but it also feels great.

PlayDoh on my face is fun too.

I also do this thing where I rest my left forearm on top of my head, and hold the top of my right ear.

Oh, to do these in public!!

There was a Mexican restaurant that used to celebrate birthdays by bringing a cake to the table, and the waitstaff would sing "Happy Birthday ... Olé!!"

I'm known to shout Happy BIrthday ... OLÉ!! randomly in public, quite often!

It's a miracle I wasn't identified until two years ago lol.

But, seriously? How?
