in dutch "cafetaria" is, or used to be (it would be snackbar now), where you buy fried potatoes and other fried snacks, usually to take with you

I thought the word Cafe was universally known as a sit in affair ( not takeaway ) , every-days a school day :)

what's cantine/a in english? here it's a restaurant for the workers or schoolkids

This question has already been answered but I thought I would add that a cantina is a drinking establishment and in my opinion the most famous cantina is the Mos Eisley cantina on Tatooine

For its time, the Mos Eisley was an amazing awesome visual introduction to intergalactic beings. I loved it.

Cantina is the Spanish spelling/pronunciation, as in Rosa's Cantina, old Marty Robbins song. It was a bar like Ferris describes. A google search does give "cantine" as an alternate spelling in English.

I was looking for a picture to enhance my post but couldn't find one befitting of my memory of Mos Eisley

That used to happen in Vegas a lot. The Metro-copter. Drove me nuts. Fortunately the town I'm in now doesn't seem to have one.

I just retreat into my tunnel system for a while until the SWAT team leaves and then I come back out again.

One thing I learned is not to simply look for employment/careers within your general cause, sometimes it might be there and at other times, it not, or very difficult to get your foot in the door, due to, too many damned barriers or hurdles. What is this, the Olympics? Nope;however, some employers see it that way.
