I got a musicians friend sale ad in the mail today.

I open it up and see a John Lennon 70th anniversary "Imagine" acoustic guitar.

It's listed at $8299.00

I hate this country and everything it stands for.

I am not sure you understand the pioneer and entrepreneur spirit that resides in the little beating hearts of every American. Take Abe Lincoln for example. But you must give him back. I hate people who take corpses and do not return them! And why not that great American, John Lennon himself, who with the Marx Brothers, not only gave music and laughter to the world, but Communism too. I believe Musician's Friend only printed an excerpt of the full description and dedication of this offering, the full text which is available on Gibson's site. Bold is my doing.

"70th Anniversary John Lennon J-160E

Seventy years after his birth and three decades after his untimely passing, John Lennon's message of peace continues to touch the masses, and his songs still resonate in the hearts and minds of fans around the world. At the request of Yoko Ono, Gibson Guitar is proud to offer three 70th Anniversary John Lennon J-160E acoustic guitars to celebrate the legacy of this extraordinary artist. Accordingly, only a very limited number of these handmade acoustics will ever be available.

In 1962, John Lennon was still an up-and-coming artist, and though one of two main singer/songwriters at the heart of The Beatles, was scraping by on the little money the band was bringing in at that time. For his first quality American acoustic/electric guitar, Lennon had his sights set on a new Gibson J-160E – the problem was, he didn't have the money to buy it. With the aid of a co-signed purchase from Beatles manager Brian Epstein (who also co-signed for bandmate George Harrison's J-160E), Lennon made the guitar his own, and put it straight to the business of making rock and roll history. Recreated by the luthiers at Gibson's Montana acoustic guitar facility in period-perfect detail, the 70th Anniversary John Lennon models are available in three distinct versions to represent the instrument at three periods in Lennon's life and career. The first, finished in Vintage Sunburst and limited to 500 guitars, represents the guitar as it was when Lennon first acquired it and used it on several famous Beatles recordings from 1963 to '64, including Please Please Me, With The Beatles and A Hard Day's Night.

The second is a stunning Custom Shop "Imagine" model in a Soft White finish personally requested by Yoko Ono to reflect the sentiment of John's life and music during the recording of Imagine. And the third is the model as it is today, on display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, with a thin, natural finish and Lennon's famous "John and Yoko" caricature sketches, representing the appearance of the guitar during the famous Lennon-Ono "Bed-In" peace protests of 1969.

The custom shop's second and third renditions are limited to 70 guitars each, one for every year since John's birth in 1940, and both include a special 70th Anniversary Certificate personally signed by Yoko Ono and sent to the final purchaser by Certified Mail. As for construction, each version is an accurate rendition of the J-160E of 1962, a guitar originally released in 1954 as one of the world's first successful "electro-acoustic" guitars, with built-in pickup and electronics and ready to hit the stage for the professional performing musician. Beloved by Lennon, and kept close throughout his too-short life, the 70th Anniversary John Lennon J-160E is a guitar every Beatles fan will want to make their own."

To me the interesting point is the Yoko Ono connection. But what about the connections beginnings ? (from wiki article on Yoko Ono)

"Life with John Lennon

Two versions exist of how Lennon met Ono. According to the first, on 9 November 1966 Lennon went to the Indica Gallery in London, where Ono was preparing her conceptual art exhibit, and they were introduced by gallery owner John Dunbar.[26] Lennon was intrigued by Ono's "Hammer A Nail": patrons hammered a nail into a wooden board, creating the art piece. Although the exhibition had not yet begun, Lennon wanted to hammer a nail into the clean board, but Ono stopped him. Dunbar asked her, "Don't you know who this is? He's a millionaire! He might buy it." Ono had supposedly not heard of The Beatles, but relented on condition that Lennon pay her five shillings, to which Lennon replied, "I'll give you an imaginary five shillings and hammer an imaginary nail in."[27] The second version, told by McCartney, is that in late 1965, Ono was in London compiling original musical scores for a book John Cage was working on called Notations. McCartney declined to give her any of his own manuscripts, but suggested that Lennon might oblige. When asked, Lennon gave Ono the original handwritten lyrics to "The Word".[28]

Ono began telephoning and calling at Lennon's home, and when his wife asked for an explanation, he explained that Ono was only trying to obtain money for her "avant-garde BS".[29] In May 1968, while his wife Cynthia was on holiday in Greece, Lennon invited Ono to visit. They spent the night recording what would become the Two Virgins album, after which, he said, they "made love at dawn."[30] When Lennon's wife returned home, she found Ono wearing her bathrobe and drinking tea with Lennon who simply said, "Oh, hi."[31] Ono became pregnant in 1968 and miscarried a male child they named John Ono Lennon II on 21 November 1968,[32] a few weeks after Lennon's divorce from Cynthia was granted."

Do you see the influences at play here friend ? And also notice the genesis of the very title of the song. The price of course is made up of many factors, but two not to overlook are the cost of a Yoko Ono signature and Certified mail. The cheapest I could find Yoko's signature was 50 bucks and Certified mail has gone up recently to $5.75.

i just learned that "carnival" is a us-american word for a traveling circus as opposed to a tradition of seasonal parades. then i learned what a "twinkie" is, that vanilla flavoured twinkies are more popular than banana flavoured twinkies and that you can deepfry them. then i learned about other things that are frequently deepfried and sold at us-american carnivals, such as onions and chocolate bars (all of which did not sound very appealing to me so far). then i read the article on "dippin dots" and now i wish i hadnt because i want them so badly. not necessarily eat, just have.

I took a bit of a break today. I didn't rush to post due to a tangent that I had to let fizzle out, so I used my better judgement.

I'm working on a drawing of JM Barrie from Finding Neverland as a chibi anime character re-enacting a scene from Spongebob where Spongebob is in a cardboard box and makes a rainbow with his hands while talking about "Imaginaaaation". This drawing is so cute that I feel like I'm getting diabetes from staring at it. :P I'll post it when I'm done and I may even use it as my avatar if it turns out well.

I wasn't able to come on here yesterday because I had a rough day, after breakfast, I found myself lying on the kitchen floor looking like I vomited all over myself.
{Yeah, I know... :eew: } After I got dressed & started destroying pieces of junk mail through my family's shredder, I noticed a paper cut on my right hand and ran back to the bathroom to clean it up, freaking out. Also, I noticed that after breakfast, after I found myself on the kitchen floor, I also noticed I bit my tongue very hard & had to gargle with some saltwater.

During dinner, I collasped again, later finding myself in my dinner chair looking once again like I vomited all over myself.

The other day, I went to a free event only open for pedestrians and cyclists, no cars allowed. That free event was close to an area of Portland where I was today before I came on here with my mom and my sister.

I'm concerned about you now. :( Don't you think you should get some medical attention for that?

Random thing I have to say would be "I want cake."

Me too. She might still be going through her anxiety over losing her partner in crime. :(
