I had leftover daiya macaroni (vegan mac & cheese) with an egg and a slice of applewood smoked bacon. Topped with a bit of hot sauce.

Have you recently experienced the loss of a loved one (family, friend, pet)? If so, how well are you coping with the emotions that come along with that?

No, I haven't. Knock wood. But a few of my loved ones are bereaved and dealing with grief, so I feel very close to the topic.

Actually my fish died a few weeks ago but obviously that's not even a consideration. (You mentioned pets).

My dog died a year ago which isn't "recent", but still makes me upset. I actually had a dream last night that I think was related (she was old, sick, and dying and I struggled to care for her, and the pet I was taking care of in the dream was also old, sick and dying and I was struggling to take care of it). I'd assume since I'm still having dreams like that, that maybe I haven't coped massively well so far. :|

Have you ever been a caretaker for a sick/injured person or pet?

When I was five we moved houses. Our cat got lost at the first house and we had to move without him. He had never been to the second house but he showed up six months later, emaciated, at the front door. It was like The Incredible Journey. We cared for him for a couple of days but he wouldn't / couldn't eat or drink. We took him to the vet and he ended up being put to sleep. I can still smell the cleaning products (iodine in particular) and the air in that clinic. Other than that, I once nursed a sick bird that I found outside, and a dying baby squirrel. Neither one lasted the night. I've had many pets but none really needed nursing care. They just got old and passed on their own except for one cat who had Diabetes, and I ended up putting her down because the meds weren't working and she was very unhappy.

Oh wait, I've also done lots of fish quarantine and medication / treatment for various illnesses.

My dog was the only truly ill person/pet I've been a caretaker for. I gave her medication, subcutaneous fluids (she had kidney cancer), fed her with syringes when needed (sometimes she didn't want to eat but really needed to), etc. After doing that I think I would enjoy becoming a vet, if I could handle the emotional aspect of seeing sick and dying animals a lot better...

Have you ever wanted to work with animals?

In a way, I do every day. I'm a naturalist and wildlife photographer. In terms of animals, I mostly study arthropods. However, I do have a soft spot for many amphibians and reptiles.

What do you enjoy about being outdoors? What do you loathe about it?

I love the smell of fresh air, which brings back nostalgia regardless of the weather / season. Also nature sounds. Storms. Trees.

I hate: worms. soil. sunlight. agoraphobia. people. human noise.

I love seeing different plants, animals, feeling the weather, etc. I hate being around people if I'm outside in public, though.

Do you have any smileys that you use from off-site? Image

I don't. I haven't been on a forum in so long that I've forgotten where to find them :D

If an emergency/disaster suddenly occurred, would you be prepared? Do you have a "GO bag" or anything similar?

I have a snow shovel—that’s about it.

I have an emergency bag in my car - torches, blankets, jump cables, flares, snacks, water, candles, matches, batteries, sunscreen, snow chains, extra socks and mittens. It's something my dad insisted upon from the day I started driving. In my house I don't have anything prepared except the food / water in my cold cellar. I also keep a good supply of cash here in case the bank machines go down.

Your dad was a good, practical man.

Like I said, all I have is the snow shovel, which is not necessarily 8)

Nothing.
But if it had to... It's always, always had to do with obtaining blankets and using it as much possible.

How often you ever had any black and white dreams?

I've had some lucid dreams that were somewhat grayscale but transformed to color as I became more aware of my dreaming. Most of my "normal" dreams are in color.

What is your least favorite daily chore/task?
