Pearls before swine

I'm never posting in this thread again

It's a waste of time

i remember expressing that sentiment earlier in this thread (although i did not say that i would not post in this thread again, i did use the words "to roll pearls before swine" (i think i made a rhyme)).

i do understand that that phrase means "to offer a gift or a piece of wisdom that is beyond the mental scope of the recipient" , but i always had the idea (ever since i heard the phrase when i was a child) that it meant that one rolls the figurative pearls before the swine, and they are so stupid that they can not conceive of what just happened without reference to food, and so they instinctively sniff the pearls to see if they are edible, and considering the size of a pigs nostril is similar to the size of a pearl, then their nostrils got blocked as they sniffed the pearls, and they then suffocated because they could not efficiently breathe through their mouths.

but i know that pigs are not stupid now.

the post following this post may be something like "yawn" or "burp" etc, and i think this thread is dead but somehow it still lives on.

i think it remains popular because if there are no other threads that are pertinent to what you want to say, then this thread is the only place to "dump" those thoughts.

this thread is like a cascade of thoughts, and there is no cohesion of those thought streams into a coagulation of general topical substance because almost every post is a "genesis" post that is not inspired or influenced by any earlier post.

it is best not to commit well thought out and extensive ideas to this thread. they will be ignored.

Having only read the last page so far, I do not know the context of conversation, so no offense intended toward anyone, but I do not consider the metaphorical phrase of "roll pearls before swine" as completely identical to offering a piece of wisdom that is beyond the intellectual capacity of the recipient. The Pharisees referred to as swine were not intellectually inferior, but just blind and unwilling to see. Willful ignorance is not necessarily a fault of low intelligence, but perhaps of pride or apathy more than due to any intellectual fault. Actually, with more intelligence it is easier to become more prideful and more set in one's ways - to the chagrin of anyone who would dare to suggest that they may be wrong on any matter, especially one in which they feel certitude.

A lot of members have been on me since I got my life back on track. I post a lot in this thread and all the other threads, because I have a lot to say. Having a lot to say isn't a waste of time and I feel that whoever doesn't like this thread shouldn't be posting in it.
