The Batmobile, designed and built by George Barris, for the TV show "Batman" didn't have power steering. It was incredibly heavy due to the fact that Mr. Barris used lead to sculpt the fins and details, not fiberglass. If you watch carefully, you'll note that the car only drives in a straight line in medium shots or close-up, and only turns in long shots. That's because they used a stunt driver.

Pound for pound, there is more sugar in a lemon than a strawberry.

When baby Opossums are born, they are so small that an entire litter can fit in a tablespoon. They live inside their mother's pouch for three months before climbing out and riding on her back.

In 1943 the German General von Paulus' Sixth Army was surrounded at Stalingrad. Rather than allow them to attempt a breakout earlier - or failing that, surrender - Hitler ordered them to die at their posts. The Sixth Army could have surrendered, but to do so would have been an admission of weakness. Hitler even promoted von Paulus to Field Marshal on the grounds that no German of that rank had ever surrendered.

Shortly afterwards, the Germans surrendered.

North Yorkshire is the biggest ceremonial county in England; the City of London being the smallest. My own county, Lancashire, is 17th out of 48.

Decorating and coloring eggs for Easter was the custom in England during the Middle Ages. In 1290, the household accounts of Edward I recorded an expenditure of eighteen pence for 450 eggs to be gold-leafed and colored for Easter gifts.

There are 42 other year-round research stations on Antarctica. All told, about 4,000 people live on Antarctica in summer, 1,000 in winter.

A ceratopsian dinosaur (a relative of Triceratops), Torosaurus, had a massively-large frill with two holes in the centre of each half. The possibility exists that there was skin stretched across the holes which was able to become engorged with blood or change colour (to attract a mate or frighten off a potential predator).

In fact, Torosaurus' frill would have been pretty much useless as a defensive shield against physical attacks - its size and the holes in it would have made it intolerably weak and likely to shatter under a Tyrannosaurus attack. The three large, sharp horns on its snout and brows, however, were evidently defence enough.

Pavlov's dogs once got locked in their kennels during a flood. They were rescued, but almost drowned. The stress of almost dying made them forget everything Pavlov had taught them.
