I used to really enjoy dubbed anime and even defended it, until I started watching live-action movies and quality Western animation. I also spent quite a lot of time watching subbed anime because of dubbed anime becoming less accessible to the public during recent years.
As a result I now think that all dubbed anime sounds really cheesy and melodramatic, no matter how badly I want to take it seriously. I also notice things like the characters will state something, and then repeat themselves using slightly different wording in order to match the mouthflaps. There's also the infamous over-exaggerated "Huh!?" when a character is surprised by something and their mouth is open.
On one hand, I'm a little sad that my love of dubs got ruined, because the dubbed anime that aired on Toonami and Adult Swim were a big part of my life when I was younger, so I feel like I lost a little bit of my childhood by not being able to enjoy dubs anymore. On the other hand, I feel a little proud that I've moved on to subs because it improves my reputation as an anime fan.
