I've always wanted to go to LA! Hmmm...I should do a road trip one year during Mardi Gras in Shreveport. I'm back home in Toronto now, but when I was living in GA, I fully intended to drive through all of the southern states, but I didn't get around to it.

If you ever get to, plan on spending at least 1 night here, stay in a hotel and do Mardi Gras and gamble a little at the casinos, or go dancing downtown. But always book rooms EARLY, because we have about 10,000-12,000 hotel rooms and by the day of the parades, they are all completely booked up.

Next weekend is going to be nuts because we are home to the BassMaster Classic this year, which is the biggest fishing tournament in the world. Fishing was a special interest of mine as a child, not so much now though... but it still will bring in about 70,000 people in addition to the 1/2 million who will still be here for next weekend's Mardi Gras parades.

For those interested, here are some photo galleries from the local newspaper showing last night's big parade. I will forewarn you, we have lots of rednecks here so there are lots of "rebel" flags flying and lots of people in cowboy hats:

Borrow hell?! Aren't they only $10 for 2 DVDs? I'd rather buy my own than borrow a "used" copy. The ONLY reason I don't have any of those videos is because my wife would be angry.

Meh. tell her to join the party.

I wish!! !

I confess....I used to be a big fishing fanatic too. 8) I've been slowly slacking off since age 24 or so though. I might go out for the first week of trout season this year, but haven't decided yet. :chin:

Last night when my wife and I were driving around looking for a restaurant where we could actually get in to eat for Valentine's Day, I strangely remembered how I used to be obsessed with buying fishing tackle and arranging my tackle box. I would open it every day and make sure everything was in place, and just keep it all in order. This was an obsession of mine for a couple of years even though I didn't get to fish as often as I would have liked.

By the way, on the V-Day dinner thing, the only reason I didn't make reservations was because it was also a Mardi Gras parade night and I thought surely everyone would be at the parade!! The parade goes on for hours so we were finally able to eat before going to the parade, and I guess everyone else did the same.

If you do, you know where to find me.

And sorry if that was too much info. I am sure you know how bad special interests can be... and since my hometown is one of mine, naturally I am a one-man tourism guide. Too bad the tourism dept here doesn't realize this and only accepts people with college degrees in marketing! I likely know more about my area than any of them!

Absolutely no reason to apologize! I think it's very cool. :)

Have you tried applying to the Tourism board anyway? Sometimes you can prove yourself interviews even if you don't hold the specific qualifications they're requesting. I think you should give it a shot. You would be awesome!

I confess.... I like to apologize for being somewhat intense lately, a bit confused even. And for a couple of times before.... Quite stressful is the situation I'm in (city hall keeps on going behind my back, where they promised to play above the table but they.... keep on lying to me). Although I try to remind myself not to bring my aggression or anger to this site, it sometimes slips through. Not even sure if anyone noticed but.... tjah, don't know. Sorry.

I also confess most of the time I'm ok and can't really be bothered by their incompetence.

I confess I have finished my first mid-term, my Math mid-term to be specific and
the room was like a college version of various reality shows.

I confess I am in a bit of a "Thread Creating" mood, so some of my new threads will be very random at first.
