I remember reading that article, too. It was funny.

My greatest special interest, of course, is one that is hardly unusual, especially for a woman-cats and animals in general. I definitely have certain favorite breeds: Siamese, particularly the mixed breed types such as Lynx points and Snowshoes, tabbies and Calicos. Of course, those are the breeds I have personally owned, so of course I have a special affection for them.

I always remember having strong interests in researching some country or culture. I remember going through distinct phases. In junior high, it was Japan. In high school, when I started learning Spanish, Spain and Argentina became interesting. In college, it was Ukraine and Russia. Now, because of Denis Istomin, it's Russia and Uzbekistan. Spain has also resurged because of Rafael Nadal.

I was obsessed with the different kinds of wine, beer, and mixed drinks for a period of time. I was 10.

for a period [and still], I was fascinated with the tragically abbreviated and diminished lifetime of Frances Farmer, and did much research on her.

I used to have an obsession with water metres, the ones outside peoples houses in suburban Australia. I would hunt for them on the way to school.

Greek history, from the Iliad and the Odyssey to the present financial crisis. I also have a curious interest in the Balkan countries, particularly Serbia.

I had a phase a few years ago when I tried to visit as many different branches of McDonald's as possible. I even kept a written list of them, which reached about 40. I did the same with public libraries as well.

Obscure video games, especially '90s PS1 and PC games.

^ Yep, that's one of my interests too! Within the last hour I've downloaded Disruptor and two King's Field games for PS1, though I always prefer to acquire stuff on original CD if possible.

Whew boy, I have a lot.

Scars and burns
Medical equipment
Vintage computer graphics systems and early 3D rendering techniques
Road signs and how they differ around the world
Old pop charts (namely, when and how high a certain song peaked)
Logos
Brands
Fake products
Telephones (especially the Trimphone)
The 1970s (not too unusual except for the fact I was born eleven years after the decade ended!)

Realistic space warfare, which means using only weapons systems that could be feasible to build today (conventional guns, railguns, coilguns, lasers, particle guns, conventional fragmentation explosives, nukes, etc.) and the same for propulsion systems (Chemical rockets, nuclear thermal/salt water rockets, nuclear pulse propulsion, MPDs, ion engines, laser thermal, etc.). It's almost impossible to find anything on this, I'm lucky to have one simulator called Children of a Dead Earth (Which got me into this) and the website Atomic Rockets.

I have a few but my interest was mostly sparked by Mello of Death Note and the enormous one he sported across his face.
