 And what stopped you after the song had finished... did you have to go out?

The fact that I find this thread mundane and overdone and I would rather go off and do other things after the song was done.

I was listening to all the 5-star rated tunes in my collection - a 705 song playlist. Here's the last 10 that played.

It's a long way to the top (if you wanna rock n' roll) - AC/DC
It's your thing - Isley Brothers
Disposable Teens - Marylin Manson
Water From a Vine Leaf (Xylem Flow Remix) - William Orbit
It Don't Hurt - Sheryl Crow
Jet Airliner - Steve Miller Band
Sick of Life - Godsmack
Caribbean Blue - Enya
You Talk Too Much - George Thorogood & the Destoyers
Beyond the Realms of Death - Judas Priest

That's a different take, I have only just got iTunes, I'm not sure about ratings yet... from your list, I do like The Steve Miller Band... and I haven't heard George Thoroughgood for ages...

I like this thread. I took a quick listen though your list, sqounk, and well, once again, we don't have a lot in common taste-wise, but we do have an artist in common as you'll see.

Money For Nothing - Dire Straits
Love and Tears - The Slip
Help Me - Joan Osborne
Halfway Round the World - Carly Simon
Avenue A - Block
Sooner - Jim James (live at the XPonential Music Festival 2006)
Hang on to the Night - XTC
Nightblindness - David Gray
Together - June Rich
The Night That Never End - The Cat Empire

I'm interested to know, how do you decide what stays and goes on your iPod? Myself, I keep this index card sitting on the table, and anytime a song comes on I've had enough of, I mark it for deletion. Then, every two weeks or so I take the card, go into iTunes and do my purging. Just from the list above, I marked two songs for elimination. The other 8, I am rather happy with.

Thank you for appreciating the thread; it's a harmless bit of fun, I'm not demanding people have to like it LOL... so there is XTC on your list, I have never heard this song though, I'm not even sure it is covered on Fossil Fuels... I know of Joan Osborne and Dire Straits of course and I'd certainly be interested in hearing what the Cat Empire sound like!

A friend has just mailed me some Cake songs which I've yet to listen to... I certainly appreciate Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, the Kinks and The Pogues!

PAVEMENT > Range Life > Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain
FUN^DA^MENTAL > Mother India > Seize The Time
BABES IN TOYLAND > Real Eyes > Fontanelle
U2 > 40 > Under A Blood Red Sky
TORI AMOS > Thank You > Forgotten Earthquakes
THE CLASH > Tommy Gun > Theme time Radio Hour
TORI AMOS > Jackie's Strength (Remixed Version) > A Piano: The Collection
TORI AMOS > Silent All These Years > Little Earthquakes
THOMPSON TWINS > Hold Me Now > 100 80's Hits
THE CURE > Never Enough > Greatest Hits

This has never happened [in a list] before, for iTunes to pick three songs by the same artist from almost 90Gb of music files is kind of quirky!
