The Furry Fandom
People say that? I'm not a particular fan of anime style art but I have plenty of friends who are and so, and most of the time without my request, I get sent piles of art in ridiculous detail. People who draw anthro can be good or bad (I'm an example of bad, why I stick to lit) but I've never seen anime style art that didn't blow me away with detail. People are stupid.
i was surprised when i came across it, and pissed because my own style is a western anime mix. alot of people changed what they drew after being on the wrong end of the hate.
if you browse devaint art long enough you'll find a ton of hate on anime. i'm sure that's not the only place. heck there is a whole site dedicated to ridiculing anime fans, i found out about it when they attacked me. all because i had taken a picture with some sonic figures i got as a gift from a friend in the background.
and when i say good and bad it's not the art, bleedman one of the best artists on da is nothing but a jerk. i've found people who are great artists that have horrible attitudes, and some that are nice, divine star was one of those. she was nice respectful and a bunch of people jumped on her to the point that she left, honestly devaint art was the one that lost more when she left. she had great art and sense of humor, and it's a shame that she left. she's only one of the many artists i watched that left.
http://www.theanimereality.com/ this site is the only place you need to go to find most of the hate. i am ansemfan on there if your curious.
but i've seen good artists who treat others like crap, and artists that aren't perfect that are nice, and visa versa. i should have clarified what i meant.

The CSI episode was accurate of some people.
Also, Anime is homogenous and rather stale as a style. Back in the 60's, 70's, and 80's. this wasn't the case, but of recent times, it is a problem. Everything looks the same and people essentially copy each other to the letter when drawing in that style. It's grossssssss.
I am a furry, don't ask me questions!

i've seen many different anime styles and i like them all pretty much, of course i'm kinda neutral to art in general. but when opinions become personal attacks like on the anime bashing site it's going to far.
to say you don't like something is a harmless opinion, whether the person spoke to gets offended or not is their problem. but the anime reality takes the concept way to far, they even bashed a kid who was defending his house from robbers. it doesn't matter what he used the replica sword was probably close by. and they attack him for it, pathetic that robber would have hurt or killed him given the chance. if a gun was close by or any object he could of grabbed he would gave picked up what he had there.
but i find anime more symetrical in a way. western cartoons tend to look a bit warped at times, like the arms are out of per-portion, the head is to big. anime tends to stick to a more even design a human character is more along the lines of normal per-portions. and i hate warped images, that's not to say i don't watch western cartoons, i sold my soul to the roadrunner and coyote years ago along with the looney toons in general, but doesn't mean it doesn't bother me.
also i'm talking about the art styles, anything beyond that i couldn't care less about.

Yeah, the episode raised a lot of good points. But your typical CSI viewer saw none of them. Your typical CSI viewer saw paper mache fursuits, killer furries and "paf con" if memory serves. People don't care how informative a point your ep makes if it gives you something to hate instead.

i never saw that one, the last episode i watched was the one with the super model that killed herself. i still have vivid images of that one, scared me big time. i think i lost 2 nights of sleep. stopped watching the show after that. and honestly that's the only episode i remember at all.
i avoid that show like the plague now, i can brutally kill things in fallout 3 in disturbing ways and not be shaken a bit, but that gave me nightmares for weeks.
anyway even if i saw the episode it most likely wouldn't have bothered me. like when it comes to xemnas, there are a ton of people out there driving his name into the dirt and those who are fans of him. still didn't change my mind.
basicly there are bad people in every group but that shouldn't judge the whole idea. it's like that with nearly anything. it's hard to ignore but we are an imperfect people, not everything will be peachy all the time.

i'm not that stupid...
i liked the show until it got to disturbing. that girl was literally tearing her skin off with scissors. great i'm probably going to have nightmares again. it wasn't the scene itself but the fact her mind got so screwed up her view of reality got twisted.
that was the most horrific thing i ever ever seen. fatal frame doesn't bother me that much. hell drakengard's 12th chapter isn't that bad, and i can't watch the cutscenes anymore.

Dem fursuits were awful, yes.
I'm not a big fan of furries. I'm not a hater, but the subculture, or whatever, has given the world a lot of freaky animal fetishists. And I don't always appreciate coming across random... and very strange humanimal images in Google.
Another thing that is confusing is that people talk about it being more of a spiritual thing. Like... that they feel that the animal they've chosen is a part of who they are, personality wise... so why are most of them foxes, and dogs, cats, wolves, dragons, ect? There are millions of different species of animals out there just like there are millions of different personalities.
So why not be true to one's personality? Even if they're say... a triops? Or a horseshoe crab? Or a tarantula?
It would be more true to form if some girl came in wearing a tarantula fur outfit, because her personality fit that.
"I build webs around myself, I have a mildly venomous bite, and I rarely eat things... but when I do it's to suck the living juices out of them." I.E., anorexic gold digger. I am so spot on!

i don't know why i choose a fox for mine, it has nothing to do with my personality or any spiritual thing. i think it more or less came from my love for tails, next to metal sonic he is my fav sonic character, i can't help he is to cute. also the main thing i liked about tails is his helicopter tails ability he has. so i want to have a character that could do something like that. tails happen to be the only character i knew that could fly with his tails and he just happens to be a fox.
but i also love machines as well so she is an anthro\cyborg fox. but my art tends to follow my fav thing at that point, whatever i am focusing on at the time, and you can see that all through my art book, it went from cars, to planes, to anthros, then to humans, and in humans it goes from final fantasy 7, to kingdom hearts. if i still drew i would have gone through a dragon age faze, fallout 3 faze, an oblivion faze, and now skyrim. and possibly a minecraft faze in between. heck i went through a robot anthro faze due to metal sonic.

Not many people are very fond of things like triops. They tend to choose animals that they are very fond, and thus most people have animals like dogs and cats. I've teased about having a triop fursona before though. I love Triops.
The people who are spiritual about it are called otherkin, therianthropes, or lifestylers.

cool like whole community.
but yeah it tends to go with what you like, i feel no kinship with the fox\hedgehog\robot\porupine\wolf\dragon on a personal level beyond just just liking the animal in general. i should have more dragons though i love dragons.

I think that it would be much more interesting to have people dressed as a ton of different animals!
I looked at some of the suits online. I'm not looking to make a suit, but I am hoping to start making realistic plush sculptures this summer and thought, "If I can find tutorials on how to make the faces, buy supplies, ect, I'll be all ready to go!"
I stumbled across this: http://qarrezel.deviantart.com/
This person has amazing costumes!

amazing does do his work justice, his stuff looks almost real. he has to be a pro designer or he has one hell of a talent. i will agree foxes are a bit common as well as hedgehogs, i try to branch out as often as i can but it's easier if i have an image to use as a ref. because i use the more cartoonish sonic style of anthro almost every animal type has to be redesigned and adapted to the cartoon-like style. which is why it's easier to go from what is already well known and has an established design.
sculptures, cool i sculpt with clay every now and then, but yeah it's hard to find guides on how to design parts of sculptures, i was looking for something that could help with a human face, ended up having to wing it. so if you find a site that as sculpture tips, can i get a link?
i have made a few clay characters, they aren't easy to make. i also made the world of warcraft motorcycle, it was a challenge but getting in the game was worse.
anyway i would post pics of my work, but i don't feel safe here anymore. most likely i would post a topic and get hate for it. that's the story of life on the net.
