My sister was scared of Spiders, one summer. She was afriad that a Spider would crawl up the stairs and into her bedroom. My mum said, "Spiders can't climb stairs". my sister was satisfied with the response, so she went to sleep.

pretty much just social anxiety for me. i can't stand it when theres pain to the body in tv or in a movie like someone stepping on a plank of nails barefoot or sawing off one's leg.

Hah, thought of another one. After boxing donuts in a Krispy Kreme one summer, the smell of a plain glazed krispy kreme donut is enough to make my stomach churn. If I'm driving and see a "Hot Now" light, I speed up...to get away from that damned smell.

And they closed all the Krispy Kremes in Houston :(

I met this girl recently that is afraid of rabbits. Terrifed actually... And she's 20 years old.

That's right, the terrestrial rabbit. One of the most innocent looking, fragile creatures in nature. One good tap on the back of thier head in the right spot kills them instantly.

When I said, "Wow, so that scene in Monty Python and the Holy Grail must have sucked for you." she replied, "Yeah, as soon as the rabbit appeared I cut the movie off and never finished watching it."

Some of my phobias don't seem so peculiar to me anymore, reading this thread.

For example I have a phobia of seeing certain words cropping up in certain contexts, in books or whatever.

By way of an example: having found words in the Bible that can be seen as mild swear words. I know the word 'piss' appears in the King James Version, and 'turd' appears in The Message. To see such words in the Bible gives me the creeps.

Another example: not being able to look up my Webster's dictionary for quite a while, because for some reason some of the comments made about words have shocked me too much. They are very frank comments so that's partly the reason, but there must be another reason.

I don't IM or chat online very much at all like I used to, a contributory factor being again, swear words. If someone used a swear word in an IM or private chat with me I'd be physiologically distressed.

This has to be a neurological thing, but I don't think it's commonly Asperger is it?

Men (getting better with this one), being in crowded places, and having people stand behind me

I'm afraid of getting old and regret what I didn't do.
Otherwise, I'm not afraid of much...

I quietly celebrated. :P

Besides, now I don't run the risk of getting in a wreck or getting a speeding ticket beecause my foot involuntarily pushes the gas pedal half way through the floorboard after seeing one of the hot now signs. Drive too slow, smell the...evil.

The prospect of people off WrongPlanet finding out that I don't wear conventional underwear, anymore.

*Agrees*

Besides, I cannot eat the stuff. I would be uncontrollable to other people and the environment would become uncontrollable to me.
