If a conductor became one of the undead, would he only want trains?

This obsession with zombies deserves a very expensive official study to be done by highly paid government scientists.

They've probably got a whole department devoted to it here in France - or at least a few hundred people administering the bureaucracy of a couple of scientists doing the study.

Im not worried about zombies because I live in an area that is very high in humidity. Even if zombies were real and therefore reanimated, they would still be dead and subject to decomposition. Humidity speeds that up. All we would need to do here is run to the grocery store and stok up on every thing like we do for threats of snow flurries, go inside and lock the door and stay there for about three days. They would fall apart by then.

The problem would be with the rednecks who just couldn't stay inside. It would be the same way as when a tornado is coming, everybody runs to the door to look for it. Half the good ole boys would be out in the yard trying to see if they could hit the zombies with the shotgun. The other half would be trying to hit them with empty beer cans. We might be a little much for zombies down here.

Trouble with your humidity theory is that the real original zombie myth originated in Haiti- a green humid tropical country.

Ofcourse when George Romera started the Night of the Living Dead series of movies - he had his characters just call them "the living dead". In his first movie he didnt actually use the word "zombie". That label got placed on his creatures by the fans and critics over the years. So its debatable whether Romero Zombies and Haitian Zombies are really the same thing. Kinda like the whether European dragons are really the same creature as Chinese Dragons or not.

Haitian zombies, as the urban legend goes, were actually drugged. They allegedly used some concoction that had similar effects as rohypnol ("roofies"). Once drugged, the victims would allegedly obey any order given, and be unable and unwilling to initiate any actions for themselves.

I'm sick of hearing about them too. I don't know why people find them so fascinating all of a sudden. I feel the same way about vampires. Oh my gosh, zombie attack! Who freaking cares? I'm so sick of people going on about it whether they believe in zombies or not. It's getting pretty annoying.

PBS had a series exploring paranormal legends.
They had a Haitian zombie episode.

It was interesting.

We the viewers actually got to see an actual alledged "zombie"- a young man who died in a car cash but "came back from the dead and was now living with his family as a zombie".

He was a rather nice looking young guy with a sad forlorn expression who was mute and obviously not "all there".

But he lived with a rural family with his "parents" and "siblings".

Sometime after the family lost their real son friends told them that he had returned from the dead and was hanging out at the edge of town as a zombie. So the dad and kids went out and found him and took him in.

The TV producers had a DNA test done on this curious young man who was roughly the age that their departed son wouldve been.

It turned out that their zombie "son" had no kinship to the family at all.
He was just a demented vagrant stranger from parts unknown.

But- he now had a roof over his head. And the family had a void in their lives filled by his presence. So the belief in zombies acted as a kind of social safety net in this case. It was kinda pogniant.
