E4300 or E6400 Core 2 Duo.
2GB DDR2 800 Corsair RAM.
8800GTS or X2900XT.
A 650i or 965P mobo for ocing.
What would you settle for?
I agree it would be a false economy to upgrade, but your specs are waaay above your means, and what is necessary for adequate gaming - future-proofing can equally be a false economy.
How many current games would actually benefit from 2GB @ 800Mhz? better to buy whats reasonably needed, and get more later.
Also im no expert, but i think those new-generation cards are overkill for most current games, by the time they become a gaming prerequisite they'll probably be at least half the price anyway. Consider getting a cheap secondhand one to tide you over - you'll still be able to play almost everything (if not on max details).
I dont actually buy second-hand, but ill always look for special offers where the box/cosmetic appearance was damaged or software/leads etc are missing.
1.Lots of games need 2 gigs of RAM to run well at amx settings.
2.I want to play future games like crysis on max settings,so i want a dx 10 card.
3.How can future-proofing be a bad idea???
Ok,go to newegg.com and configure me a rig with a Core 2 Duo,a decent OCing mobo and 2 gigs of RAM.
Make it as cheap as possible.
