Once all the polar ice has melted on the North Pole, global warming will be unstoppable, because of all the methane that will be released.

And many species are doomed to extinction. Not because it's inevitable but because measures aren't taken.

It's hard to get a job these days without a high school diploma.

It's hard not to die from starvation these days, with or without a high school diploma.

I voted in person today at an electronic machine despite this local election officially being declared "mail ballot only".

The other day my mother called a lady bug a "she", and I decided not to remind her that they can be male.

It was a *real* lady bug. The kind that is small and round with cute little dots on its wing-covers. It's unusual to see them this time of year, because it's colder out and they hibernate.

Such an insect would indeed be rare in Canada this late in the year (as where I live as well).
FWIW, I was taking a cue from your "ladybug" story when I mentioned the gender of the UK singing group "Ladybirds" as a "blatant truth". I also believe a strictly female species of Coleoptera would be scientifically impossible.

Another blatent truth...Ladybugs are NOT Hemiptera (which is supposed to mean bugs).
