Short term: Lose weight

Long term: Get my story about my cat, Samantha, published (I sent the manuscript in to a publisher yesterday), get a full-time library job (by 2008, when the new library is completed), and go to London for the 2012 Olympics.

Congratulations on getting your manuscript out there! I'm still poking along with mine. :( My goal is to lose 20-25 lbs, and to complete my manuscript in time to enter it into a contest.

Yeah, you have to keep a hairy eyeball on thosde empty cans. They may look innocent but harbor ill will. Let them get up close and personal and you can be a gonner. I like to engage them outside 200 yards.

And shaken pop cans do asplode nicely. Also bad fuit goes banggity when stgruck by a hollow point.

Hydra Shock - when you care enough to send the very best.

To find a way of detaching myself emotionally so that I become immune to other people.

You can't be immune to other people. What you can do is take pride in how you are and the things that you do. Eventually you'll work things out and nothing will ever look so bad.

There must be methods you can use to close off your emotions so they don't get in your way anymore.

I'm sure that's not what you want. You would never want to not feel anything because that makes life kinda pointless. What you want is to be able to shut it off for the people that shouldn't matter. You have to know that's what you want and that's where you're going. It's called compartmentalizing (I know I just mangled that spelling, but I'm not going to correct it). But it's something in you that you have to reach for yourself.
