My father died exactly 3 weeks before I was born. My elder (and only) sister was 3½ years old when he died.
He died of a thing called synovial sarcoma. A rare form of bone tumor. He was 27 years old when he died, and Mum was pregnant with me.

He was a sheet metal worker for the State Rail. He had an accident and his ankle crumbled.

He went to the doctor's and the doctor said to him, "If you want a day off work, why don't you just say so?"

He said, he really had a problem, so they did an x-ray.

The doctor said, "I'm sorry, but you've got a serious problem"

After that, they amputated his foot.

After that, they amputated him at the knee.

After that, they amputated his whole leg and said, "We're 99% sure you're cured!"

Shortly after that, he got a lump in his neck, his eyes went yellow. I can't remember much else that Mum told me - but with her dementia, it's all lost now.

He never lost his sense of humour though. There was apparently, a ret*d boy that used to live down the end of our street and he was walking past one day and said, "Hey mister! What happened to your leg?" and my Dad said, "Shark got it!" LOL

The night he went to hospital (the last visit), he was in bed and said to Mum, "I need to go to the toilet." We had an outside toilet and Mum said she'd bring him the bucket but he insisted on going there b himself.

He got half way down the hall on his crutches and staggered and fell into a glass cabinet we used to have in the hall.

He went into a coma, went into hospital and died shortly after.

I was born 3 weeks later.

Mum had to raise 2 children on her own. And she did a bloody good job too. Although, she could never teach me how to shave. :)

Very strong woman - Pity - and a very sad ending for one who had such a hard life and did nothing but good all her life.

She was only 23 years old when he died!

I don't know if anyone will read this but LIFE IS CRUEL! There is no God - and if there is, He's a sadist!

I believe the better thing to believe is, there is no God.

On one of his last visits to hospital before he died, he fell asleep with his head on my Mother's stomach (with me in it), woke up and said, "I shouldn't be leaning on you like that!"

He then said, "This one's got to be a boy!" and it was - ME - :D - :(

This stuff is only for me - for my records

but as I said, my life is an open book and if you choose to read it, and comment on it, that's up to you.

The disclaimer was on the very first post I posted on this thread.

If you choose to read this stuff, well that's up to you.

If you choose to comment on this stuff, well, that's also up to you

But I didn't create this thread with the intention of other people joining in - but if you choose to, well, that's up to you.

If you don't, well that's pretty much how I intended it to go.

As I said, the main purpose of this thread is for me to keep a record of my life events, my thoughts, stuff I like etc.

A sort of public personal journal.

And the reason?!

One where I know it'll be kept safe for a long time and one that I can access from anywhere, any time.

And accurate at the time of writing it!

I was joking with my mum trying to be funny as she was waking up on the couch. I quipped that maybe the two of us can go to the Peace and Love festival at Willobrook Mall next Monday. She wasn't too impressed. We've both decided that I should be myself from now on instead of trying to be like Dean.

My how the tables have turned. My parents were part of the Hippie generation and Justin's father was in power at the time legalizing abortion and pulling Canadian troops out of Vietnam and now they find out they have a warhead for a first born daughter who's also Transgender who identifies with a Sid from Flushed Away-like character from the late 60s.

This is my favourite version of Session Man. Especially the war warning bit at the end.

Every handicapped unknown soldier should be a cuddly little tin sergeant for their homeland.
