It's been a beautiful snowy day in Central/Western CT! I think where I'm at we topped around 4 inches. Some areas got up to 8.

It has been a little warmer during the past few days, but I hear that winter is coming back and they are forecasting some snow beginning tomorrow.

Well, I guess the weathermen were right. The temperatures dropped. The temperature dropped down to 25.2 degrees F (-3.8 degrees C). They said we might be in for a little snow. We will see.

Its always important to keep your hands warm in the snow and ice cold weather.

just btw, have had several advise me to set the taps at the sink, kitchen and bathroom to dribble,a tiny amount of water constantly in below 32F temps ..suppose to be that flowing water does not freeze? And would keep your water pipes in your structure from freezing . And potentially keep your pipes from bursting.. 8O

When I was a kid, I'd often sleep with the window open down to about 10 F.

We had an old farmhouse and there was no form of running water upstairs where my bedroom was. Also, no central heat. The heat for the house was from a gas heat stove in the living room (we had wellhead gas from a well about .1 miles from the house). With terrible insulation and our turning the gas heat stove off at night, it was often about 40 F upstairs anyway so it didn't really hurt to close the door to the bedroom and open the windows.

It depends a lot on where the pipes are. If they run through the ceiling or up badly insulated walls, it might be a good idea. If it runs through interior walls, there should be no need to do that.

Leaving a drip is not an option on rainwater tank supply.
We have a freeze relief valve fitted before the water heater. It opens a fine spray at freezing point, letting the pipes warm a little, then shutting down until freezing point again.

One other thing. If they come up through the floor in a cabinet, for example, under a sink, open the doors to the cabinet so warmer air can keep them from freezing.
