also if u are unemployed then take some temporary work then are unemployed again u are not counted on the unemployed list.
employers are picky even if it is a basic bottom of the rung job they are trying to fill.
eg. my first job out of school trainee secretary at a law firm. they wanted someone straight out of school. no training required as they would teach me the stuff i needed to know. i did legal studies in school too so i had some idea of what goes on.
but some other places expect the applicants for that job to already have experience in that job(on the job experience). which is lame, because everyone who has done that job in the past wants something higher up.

as for the pride statement, most people just like to acknowledge this country's good points, and should not feel guilty for that. but there are those morons that act like this country is above the rest of the world therefore they get to hurt everyone else that were not born here. hate them so much!

They would be called Nationalists or National Socialists (Nazi's). I agree that it's fine to see the good points about Australia. It is overall, a good country. It only becomes a problem if a person can't or won't acknowledge that it isn't fairy land either. We have a fascinating, but sometimes dark history that a fewer and fewer people seem to be aware of.

mm history. taught in such a way that it bores people to tears. People that have written books about history have said that when they talk about history to most peoples their eyes glaze over.

It's the best video game ever made. Currently, the soundtrack is only sold in Japan.

If Howard/Costello had kept taxes at their previous rates and reinvested in infrastructure services - there's a fairly clear case that more Australians would probably have been better off

The problem with spending money on services is that everyone would disagree about what services it should be spent on. The alternative, giving people tax breaks, always meets with agreement.

For example: I have problems with Australia's public hospital system. IMHO, the problems with the system aren't about how much is being spent, but rather, who is using it.

I think that there should be a certain income bracket, above which you need to invest in a health fund. I've got friends who are Doctors on huge salaries, yet their wives have their babies in our public hospitals. I'd rather see those hospital beds saved for people who can't otherwise afford treatment.
