I've yet to post any great steam locomotives yet, this is the first one.....

LNER Class A3 4472 Flying Scotsman
Currently in the care of the National Railway Museum, whom have completely dismantled this locomotive as part of restoration work, I saw it in this dismantled state on my visit to the National Railway Museum, it started life as a locomotive on the London & North Eastern Railway, then British Railways (later trading as British Rail). To this day, the 10am service from London Kings Cross to Edinburgh is still called "Flying Scotsman", which this locomotive took it's name from, even still published by current East Coast franchise operator National Express East Coast (as FS above the column in the timetable), though these days the locomotive is the previously posted 25kV AC electric British Rail Class 91
I await the day that NRM finish refurbishing it
