Is there a movie or book you are looking forward to its release ?

Somewhere centrally located, say, a place in London. Perhaps having 4 bedrooms.

I would not like a mansion as it would cost a lot to upkeep and I'd probably not utilise it very much.

A two bedroom flat close to the centre of Oxford. Would probably cost close to half a million pounds these days. I think you could have got one for under £20,000 in the early 1980s.

I'd like a detached house, 4 bedrooms, with a garden all the way around it, a bit of woodland and a small lake with a little island that I can row/swim out to and no one can get near me. Except a friendly duck who would come and check if I'm okay. Yes, I'm fine, thanks duck.

I've also always wanted to live in a house with two staircases for some reason. I like the idea of being able to come down a different way than I went up.

If you had to emigrate, where would you go?

I've always had a bit of a talent for languages, but I'd still want to go to a country where English was widely spoken or at least understood. Hence in Europe, Ireland, The Netherlands, Germany. Obviously the USA, Canada or Australia would be an option from a language point of view, but I'd probably still prefer Europe.

No clue. I don't follow politics or war.


Do you give to charity?

Yes, occasionally, but I don't like being 'put on the spot', eg by people turning up unannounced at my front door, stopping me in the street, or cold-calling me on the phone.

How do you deal with cold-callers on the telephone?

I only answer if I know the caller.

On the odd occasion if someone gets through I just hang up without saying anything.

I put the phone down on them as soon as I have affirmed that they aren't anyone I want to talk to.

Same answer. I listen for a second, then hang up without saying anything. If it’s at the door or on the street I go mute.

What do you do if you can't get to sleep?

Pop a few prescription sleeping pills, a benzo, and chug cough syrup.
Usually around 5 am.
Usually works within about 90 minutes.
