The only way it can "make a bad impression" is because people don't tolerate anything that isn't normal to them. What sort of lesson are they teaching kids by saying they should shun and look down on things they aren't used to? :roll:

They need to remember the differences between disturbed things and disturbing things.

Something that is disturbed has a problem.
Someone that finds something disturbing has a problem....

The two are not necessarily one and the same.

So, if someone is troubled by something as non eventful as a hair colour that isn't what they are used to - it's their problem.

And about your mum, it's good that she gave it a go. It was worth the risk.
