I don't get why so many neopagans think Lilith is a feminist icon or why they have whitewashed her entire mythology to make her one.

If I'm going to honor pagan deities I at least want to acknowledge what they really are from a scholarly standpoint but so many pagans pretty much make up crap as they go and they ignore the truths that they can't accept (kinda like Christians yuk yuk yuk)

I also don't understand how some people who claim to support LGBTQ rights also claim to be fans of Fidel Castro, the dictator who was literally the worst thing to even happen to gay people in Cuba?

I also don't get the Tankies and apologists for communism. Nor do I get these Trump supporters who side with Russia.

I also don't understand why it's so taboo to call a fascist a fascist or why we can't openly acknowledge the fact that the US may soon face another civil war with these violent domestic terrorists known as Trump supporters. :?

A lot of people who follow politics, (note, they don't necessarily understand politics, but like to think that they do) - have contradictory positions on all sorts of issues. It is a sort of lazy cognitive dissonance. I wouldn't waste time getting annoyed over it.

I do not get why the Philippine government wants its citizens to register all their SIM cards and communications equipment right down to the make, model, and serial number.

Ugh. Sounds awfully big-brotherish, does not not?

I understand, it seems like it's mostly people who are into stuff like wicca, witchcraft, neopaganism, the occult, and of course Judaism (because she has her roots in Jewish folklore) who are more familiar with her. She's also gained mainstream popularity lately due to her being referenced in things like TV shows books and video games.

For example in the books The Chronicles of Narnia she was mentioned as the ancestor of the villain known as The White Witch (aka Jadis). :)

I dont get the youtube videos that are split screen and there's some person watching the video on the other side of the screen and making faces or something, or even worse, making inane comments.
What is the point of that?
It makes the video harder to watch/concentrate on and I'm not interested in watching someone else watching a video.

I never watched Fraiser but I wonder if she's anything like the first wife of Adam?

Know what else I just don't get? Why is Trump never held accountable for anything? I guess in the US certain people really ARE above the law. :(

I'm losing faith in my government fast...

Scammers, phishers, fake news spreaders and more types of suspicious users.

Especially users in the Globe network, which there are plenty who spam text messages with links and false information.
Not much in Smart network apparently... Unsure how it is with other networks.

I'm aware it's a step towards losing privacy, possible link to identity theft when criminals are savvy enough or something like that.

But then people here doesn't know how to solve the scammers and phishers problem.
I know not the whole story. And I care a little since my data isn't important.

Anyways.
I don't understand the fear of oblivion.

And so... I still don't fricking understand why people fricking refuses to listen to me when I said I want to keep things to myself.

From not taking a picture of me to mentioning me in any social media. My mom especially.

THEN PEOPLE SAY I'M WROOONG. I should "leave a legacy to have the future generation stories about me".
BUT I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE A FRICKING MARK AND I DON'T FRICKING CARE ABOUT THE STUPID STORY ABOUT ME, ESPECIALLY BY THEN WHEN I'M LONG DEAD.

Do good and great, and then spread the word about it. HUH, DO PEOPLE HAVE TO KNOW?? WAS THAT EVEN NECESSARY??
I think that's just fricking conceited. But then this is their world, and their way.

I'd rather be forgotten. Obscured by time.
Not whatever people are glorifying about their fear of oblivion.

It's useless to protest when the people around me refuses to listen to me when I say I want to keep things to myself.
If I were financially independent, I would've left already. Erase every trace that I existed from the get go. Live as someone else no one knew.

I HAD heard of the Biblical character. Except she isnt in the Bible. You could go nuts looking in vain for her in the King James because she isnt there, but only in the Apocrypha. But I have heard and read comparisons and contrasts between "Eve and Lilith". And even how a woman in Native American myth was the equivalent of "both Eve and Lilith".

I just now rechecked and realized that mistake.

Maris is the ex thats never onstage.

But Lilith is another lady. Who actually has some aspie characteristics. Probably not much in common with the goddess of the same name.

The one in Frasier is always offstage. He talks to her on the phone, and talks about her. But you never see her. And Frazer talks about her like she is a villain. So yeah...I think that she is a literary reference to the rogue goddess. An elusive night creature.

I HAD heard of the Biblical character. Except she isnt in the Bible. You could go nuts looking in vain for her in the King James because she isnt there, but only in the Apocrypha. Makes sense. :D

And yes she seems like a very complicated figure in folklore to fully understand from a scholarly viewpoint because two of the once big sources seen as proof of her importance in history: the Burney Relief and The Alphabet of Ben Sira, have both been debunked in recent times by both archeologists and Jewish rabbis who now know that the Burney Relief was actually more likely a depiction of the Mesopotamian Goddess Inanna and the Alphabet of Ben Sira with its many downright vulgar parodies of bibilical characters is now believed to have been the work of religious satire with an anti-Jewish agenda. However that doesn't stop people who are into the occult from using both the Burney Relief and Alphabet of Ben Sira as references to her appearance and to her story as the supposed first wife of Adam. Because that was simply how most people recognized Lilith in a mainstream sense.

I personally believe that Lilith was always an influental part of Jewish folklore with roots in ancient Mesopotamian folklore. She shared many similarities with the Sumerian Demon Goddess known as Lamashtu and I believe she was also the inspiration for the Greek Monster known as Lamia who too was a seductress and a murderer of young children. Though their stories are all very different they each share very similar traits of being feminine malevolent spirits who harm children and pregnant mothers and sexually assuault men as they sleep (basically to explain why men get boners as they sleep and why so many children and mothers died young from complications)

I also learned recently that in Arabic culture there is a similar myth about a jinn-like Qarinah who is also similar to the Lilith myth. Unfortunately I can't find a direct source to explain what they are and only recently found out about them through the Lilith wikipedia page...

I think that "Lilith" regardless of any name or title given to her is essentially that part of the feminine that society wishes to reject. Born out of an admittedly sexist fear of women and yet contrary to what many think now should never be embraced as a symbol of female empowerment. Think of her not as the woman fighting for women's rights and social justice but more as the sociopathic kind of woman who breaks up marriages because she can't stand to see other people happy, the kind of horrible mother who would drown her own infant child or abandon them in a hot car because she has zero love for her own children, or better yet think of her as those rare examples of female serial killers and criminals who think they can manipulate the legal system by playing the pity game or by throwing others under the bus.

To me she is like the embodiment of pure selfishness and toxic femininity. Not to mention cruelty. The Ancients had good reason to reject worshipping her and this was long before patriarchy in this world was what it is today.

In that regard she also reminds me of another sinister Goddess known as Eris who took pleasure in creating chaos and watching humans suffer from her actions. The Ancient Greeks despised her and did NOT worship her because they understood her to be bad news. But now thanks to wicca and neopaganism there are some who work with her as well.

I guess there should be a show called "Kids Worship the Darnest Things" :?
