My coffee is not done perking this morning. I WANT IT NOW!!

i had to go to my girlfriends house today because she wanted me to "pick her up" to bring her back to my house that is 100km away from her.
i wanted her to catch a train but her mother felt that i should expend the effort to drive down and pick her up and drive her back to my place.

tammy was not ready when i got there, and so i was forced to watch TV with her parents and i made a comment that made them dislike me more.

the news was on, and i was sitting in a seat in the same room as her parents when a story came on.
apparently a woman's child was murdered 10 years ago, and the reporter said "the mother of the child broke down in front of the coroners court as the case was being heard". i said "that was a major coincidence" and they said to me that they did not understand what i said. when i explained to them that i thought that the possibility of her car breaking down in front of the coroners court as she drove past it while the case was being heard was very unlikely , they were disgusted with me. they did not accept my apology after they told me that i said a very callous thing.


whatever. tammy likes me anyway.

Erm, most things today.

I fout that some of my upcoming tests are during our ofternoon breaks because tests have to be done at the same time in every school in the country and our grumpy old headteacher didn't think about that when she decided to change our breaktimes.

Then I found out that if the fire alarm went at breaktime, whether someone had purposefully set it off to disrupt the school or it was real, we would not get our break back.

Then after break, there was a fire alarm, and it didnt stop so I had to go outside in the cold and stand there for ages.

I can't walk very well right now. My knees refuse to bend, my legs have an intense pain to them, my hips keep popping, and I also have a small range of other problems as a result.

Was really looking forward to watching Wreck-It Ralph tonight, only to discover that the early digital download that's been released is only for buying. You don't get to rent it digitally until March 5th, which is when the Blu-Ray/DVD comes out too. Might as well just wait to rent it from Netflix, because there's no sense in paying for a movie you haven't seen yet (I have learned that the hard way, from past experience)

if the woman broke down in front of the coroners court, then why was it not reported that she broke down emotionally"?. "breaking down" to me suggests trouble with her car. whatever.

They said SHE broke down, not her car. It's a very common expression. Choosing to argue this (while the woman on TV was obviously crying over her dead child) with your GF's parents was a poor choice.

I hope next time fares better... seething in-laws suck.

yes well you know better than me what is meant by "break down". you would have been better in my place than i was.
i thought her car broke down initially and that is what i responded to. i understand now what was meant by the words and i am slow to understand unlike you.

i can not rapidly understand that "people" can break down. revel in your superior understanding if you must. you will always garner more support from those you talk to than i will.

Come on, man... this isn't about any kind of supposed superiority, etc. Being deliberately obtuse (like your breakdown comment) is going to piss most people off - it's just the way it is.
The Man on the Telly was telling you all how sad this story was and mudder was all teary-eyed... she expects everyone to feel the same as her. When you VERY obviously didn't, she was offended.

No, it's not logical - most humans aren't. Try to have a little empathy for them.

If you can recognize it (like you have) you can try changing it and make life easier...


I used to do pretty much the same thing as you... I still can if I'm not careful. Yes, it pissed off everyone around me.

Whatever it is in my house that beeps every 47 seconds exactly, and has been doing for about 3 weeks now.

It isn't the smoke alarm, we checked that straight away. It's loud in my room and the hallway, but seems incredibly loud sometimes and very quiet at others. It's probably dependent upon how much I am actively listening for it.

Plus it is a noise that is difficult to place, it seems to come from different directions and have no obvious source. I have hunted high and low in my room for anything electronic that may be running low on charge, but there's nothing.
