Oh you are fortunate! I got stopped on a road actually near the local high school and I didn't have any ID on me as I never carry it when I jog (lack of pockets) so the conversation went like:
Officer: "Son, what are you doing out of school?"
Me: "Oh hi! How's it go- wait you think I'm a student?"
Officer: "Why else would I ask what I just did?"
Me: *realises I have no way of proving my age* "Well I don't have an ID on me.. this is awkward."
Officer: *blank, expressionless stare into my soul*
Me: *tempted to ask for a ride home in order to get my ID but I have better judgement* Well I can't show you my ID without going home but my name is Taverson Taverson and I'm 20 and (other random information to possibly help my case). That's really all I can think of without being able to actually prove my age. Is it good enough or are you going to need to take me in?
Officer: *thinks for a moment* You're fine. You may want to keep an ID on you at all times though just in case.
I can guarantee you if I had shaved that morning (I had not shaved for almost a week) I would have been in an incredibly awkward situation in a school office or a police station. It was that combined with my calm tone of voice that got me out of trouble. I now make sure to always wear something with deep pockets for my ID.
Not the most fortunate though.
I've been pulled over 4 times (twice on a bike, once while running, and once on rollerblades...I have a lack of fear of cars.
)
Luckily , I carry a school ID and that was good enough for me....and they didn't give me an actual ticket.
But the only reason I did is because my parents bought me a combination keychain/cardholder....and it is SO convenient.
Anyways, that sucks, haha...always carry ID, always.
And were you in a college town/area?
Because they usually assume people from there are college-aged
But did you say you run?
I've run everything from a 5k to a marathon.
You?
