My mom and I went out for lunch like we usually do since she had to cancel her vacation in Mexico because of the weather. I told her I was sorry she had to do that, but she said it's all right. I know what a downer it is when you have to put plans on hold because of the weather, which we still have no control over. Also my nephew , who was going to fly back to his home the same weekend, is stuck here for another week. If I were him I'd be climbing the walls with boredom and anxiety because it's not like he's stuck in a place where there are actually lots of things to do.
Last summer my mom and I stayed at some cabin in the middle of nowhere and while there were places to go and things to do in the city nearby we had to drive for at least an hour to get there and back, and the only thing the TV showed in the cabin was episodes of So You Think You Can Dance, on EVERY station, which my mom watched while I hid from that insanity in my bedroom, reading my comic books. Also you wouldn't believe the mosquitoes outside, just getting in and out of my mom's jeep was frightening. Although it was nice to cook our own meals and have plates and silverware I'm hoping next time we stay at a hotel that at least has an indoor pool.

Why do people take the most benign and objective comments, and turn them into something to get offended over?! What the hell did I do to you anyways? I'm so sick of this crap. I don't want to play anymore.
I found out today that there are apparently 3rd party companies that do the pre-delivery prep of vehicles once they clear customs and before they're transported to the dealer. I suppose if the dealer is high volume enough it would work for them and save their service dept time.
It now has me wondering if my car will have this done, and seeing as it's a fleet purchase, it may by-pass the dealer altogether and come straight to me. Leaving my ordered numberplates in limbo with nobody to pick them up . Yes I arranged with the dealer VIA EMAIL for me to order the plates for collection BY THEM from their nearest RTA. But whats the point of them picking them up if they're never going to get the car to attach them to?
I hope they don't try to charge me for the premium numberplate fee on top of the annual fee for the personalized ones. The annual fee should be in lieu of the standard plate fee on the contract. I will make particular note of this when it's time to give them money. Hopefully after delivery, because I'm not paying for this car before I've checked it over.

Australia Day, which is Australia's national holiday, is coming up next week on 26 January. For most Aussies it's a festive occasion – not least because people get another day off work. But for many (IDK how many) Indigenous Australians it's a controversial day, one that commemorates the arrival of the European settlers who eventually took over their lands. It's kinda like how many Native Americans view Columbus Day in the US.
In that context, this video popped up in my YouTube subscriptions list today.
Sigh ... it's such a polarising issue, one that can bring out the worst of people on the Internet. And on BuzzFeed, no less.
To their credit, the Australian government has been working to make national celebrations more representative for all Australians. But the divisions of opinion run deep and a lot of non-Indigenous Australians get affronted when Indigenous Australians voice their disapproval, so it's probably going to remain a contentious issue for some time. It's a shame, because despite the occasional dispute Australia really is a wonderful country.

Very sad. I can understand Aboriginal as we have a similar event in history and still many are suffering from it. It sounds very wrong to me to celebrate the day they invaded Aboriginal people. To Indigenous people there is nothing to celebrate on that day.
