My mom told me not to go out like this but I did anyway.
Awesome! Pigtails are cute
thanks math girl. My mom is worried that I look like a teenager with an intellectual disability when I go out in public looking like a little kid with messy hair (especially if it's in pigtails) and no makeup to cover up my zits. Her reasoning is a normal teenager would try to dress more grown up and look stylish/pretty , think 15 year old girls all dolled up and wearing makeup because they want to look more grown up, so I look younger but I also look like I have an intellectual disability and am not aware of my appearance at all. It's probably true but if people see me that way, that's fine, I just don't care any more.
While I am interested in fashion and all, I don't think it's right to force anyone to look stylish and pretty. I wore pigtails a lot in high school and still did sometimes after high school until I cut off my long hair. And it's not your fault if you have zits... you are trying your best to get rid of them. You shouldn't be forced to wear makeup. It's kind of unfair since people who don't have zits don't need to wear makeup all the time. I don't wear it all the time, either. Besides, appearance isn't all that important, especially if you're just going out in public and considering that you are not under as much pressure as me to maintain a certain image. I feel a lot more pressure to maintain it because I'm involved in many things, go to lots of conferences, and often bump into important people in random places. But if I didn't have this pressure, appearance would be much, much less important to me. You're lucky in this respect, so enjoy this freedom while you can!
