i often imagine what it truly would have been like in the 1800's. i notice people these days are almost always very good looking, and that women in the 1800's were rather plain looking. like you can imagine pictures you see of young women then as old ladies. they look like young versions of old ladies.
but there are exceptions (i have been trawling photo's from the 1800's (obviously post 1850)).
if i was transported back to that time and i met this girl (this pic is taken in 1890) then i certainly would have noticed her similarity to today's modern looking faces. she is beautiful and to think that this was 126 years ago is kind of sad. she had an expression that makes me think she was thoughtful in a very considered way.
