Just read it, it has me crying too. It makes me ashamed of our species too.
The video, despite the positive news of their won freedom, was still hard to watch.

So happy they got to experience freedom...

Ricky is lovely. It's great that you gave a shelter dog a chance at a forever home.
I see he has a chew toy similar to one that my Viggo had.

That picture of him with the toy was last Christmas day. He got lots of Christmas presents. I'm a firm believer in spoiling dogs. :)

I am too :) Our pets were always given their fave foods for Christmas, their birthdays (for those we knew that day), and the day they came to us. That's in addition to giving toys to our dogs. I once made the following joke to my mother: "Viggo (our collie) doesn't have owners, he has servants!"

Above is a tribute to a well-loved dog. Be prepared to cry, though.

@MrBear, lovely cats. What are their names?

That was beautiful and sad, Logston. I can't read texts like that without tears in my eyes, but I cherish them just the same.

Wow, I had some catching-up to do!!

Raptor: Your dog has one of the BEST faces I've ever seen on a dog----so STRONG!!

envirozentinel: That article you posted was so sad. We all know, of course, that labs use mice and rats for experiments----and, maybe, that's not as disturbing, because so few of us have them as pets----but, when you think of dogs and cats, in there, it's sooooo sad.

Logston: I wasn't able to see the Fb tribute----Fb just doesn't like me (and my Dial-up Internet).

MrBear: I LOVE your cats----especially Joey, cuz he's so BIG!!

I sure do love / appreciate this thread!!

Joey enjoys throwing himself on people. He headbutts for attention.

@ jk1: Your sister's bird is GORGEOUS!!

@ justkillingtime: Yeah, I noticed the decline in the quality of the clumping kitty litter, years ago, and I HATED it!!

@ Skilpadde: I keep forgetting to tell you that President Teddy Roosevelt had turtles, for pets (among other kinds of pets)! !

I can't tell if it's just the angles, but in a couple of the pictures Nemo looks very large. How big was he?

She wasn't that big. (Yes, despite the name she was female. When I realized her gender, I didn't feel like changing her name.)
Her carapace (shell on her back) was about 26-27 cm in length (when measured following the curvature of her shell, not in a bee line) or 10,24 - 10, 63 inches. Add a few centimeters for head and tail.

Geez-a-LOO, she looked bigger than THAT!! Cool!!

I've never seen a turtle with that white part, like in the first picture. Also, Nemo has the most interesting markings!

So, give us a lesson, in turtles. How long do they live? How big can they get? Do they have personalities? If they fall-over, on their shell, how do they right themselves? Do they ever shed their shell, like a snake sheds its skin? I thought turtles were the ones that go in the water----or, is that a tortoise----what's the difference?

Enquiring minds want to know!! (That's the catch-phrase of a U.S. "scandal sheet" [newspaper], a.k.a "Rag Mag".)
