Five minutes to find and download a selection of Forths (gforth, yforth, fpe and pforth), followed by a couple of minutes of thought, and that was it.
On HC12 I've not done much assembler, Mainly C. That on a custom LCD display plus specialised keypad input. No number pad. No alpha display. Could prove tricky. I'd rather do it in PIC17 or Z80 with serial I/O. Maybe S360. PDP11? Only a couple of months work.

I seem to recall misusing PWM on the PIC to generate video sync pulses. I say "misusing", because I think there was some juggling going on. Long time ago to remember the details. Video doesn't like jitter. HC12 latency (12 cycles?) way too high, IIRC.
