YES! There is still people who is alive and like this thread. Im glad.
Such a powerful engine on the photo!

Me and my husband have just decided we will do a trainvacation during easter.
We will do some trainspotting together in Switzerland in the mountains.
I have never been there and this country is said to have extraordinary solutions on railways in high mountains!

Well, I loved trains all my life and am still a railfan and model railroader. I've been in the same RR club going on 20 years this fall. Has anyone on here ever work for the railroad? I always enjoy hearing real stories.

Check out the historic Mount Washington Cog Railway in New Hampshire. It still operates. It opened around the 1860s. Mount Washington is the 8th deadliest mountain in the world. My wife and I took the cog railway in 1995 up Mount Washington. It was a lot of fun.

am near the main hub for tthe BNSF and hear a train miles away on it tracks about every late pm or early am , hear there horns occassionally ,aswell as they cross intersections ..From many miles away
The sound is almost reassuring to hear them about the same time almost everynight.
But i must say all in all do enjoy the old steam engines much more than newer diesel ones.

From what ive seen in newstories the training of air traffic controllers also involves handling models. The training involves holding two foot line toy airliners in your hand. and pretending you're landing them.

Never thought to look for The BigBoy on Utube, only seen it in real life once , while on display.
Have not ever seen it underway , that was fun . Made me wish for a big jumbo screen to watch it on .

vids of trains in action .. love the veiws of the longer track runs , But just watching these marvels of modern metal, Just going by is almost hypnotic to me sometimes.

I don't often see freight trains as they tend to move at quiet times of night here. You can hear them in the distance after midnight sometimes. On rare occasions, getting back home on a very late train, I've been treated to the sight of several dozen identical charcoal-grey hopper cars gliding eerily past the platform- probably coal on its way down from Newcastle.
