I confess that whenever I watch an international football game where Britain is playing, I dont automatically support my home country, I pick the country I like best.

Italy vs Britain always means I'm supporting Italy. I'm not very patriotic.

I confess that whenever England is playing a football game I support their opponents. This is a common thing in Scotland, hence the saying among Scottish football fans, "I support two teams: Scotland, and whoever England is playing against."

I don't actually like football though, so I'm not sure - is there actually a British football team (as in made up of English, Scots and Welsh)? I thought that there was a seperate team for each of the countries that made up Britain.

LOL

Maybe I meant England, not Britain, I forget.

I don't really like football either, I only watch international games because I like stuff that's about foreign countries.

I was gonna say, Britain don't play football. I confess I have learnt so much about cities and countries by watching football. I love watching Italian football. If I get to watch the WC I might just support them.

I confess that I had no idea how versatile a word, "set," is, until today.

I confess that I didn't know "set" was a versatile word. Do share. :chin:

Well, I confess there is a story to go with it:

I was looking at the opening page of my Shorter Oxford English Dictionary, when I noticed it was revised and editted by a person called C. T. Onions. The name amused me, and I decided to do some research on him (he had six lines of achievements beneath his name). Something I read about him was that he was responsible for the longest entry in the OED, which was for the word set

So I thought, I wonder how long it is.

The pages of the dictionary are pretty big (probably about length nine inches; height twelve inches), and the writing is tiny. The various definitions of set take up three pages.

Since the dictionary is a 1972 revision, there must be even more uses of set by now, I'm sure.

Side note about my dictionary: my dad stole it from a council building for me.

I confess I would have been out until the small hours but I have a suit fitting today for my sister's wedding so I will have to another day
